The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Ah, the dreaded reg line at the start of D-con. A necessary evil we all endure, well... most of us, that is. In the past, I have managed to infiltrate registration (thru my old contacts) and pick a few badges up at a time, saving a few of us the horror of standing in line. But that would also require me to volunteer to work an hour or two to help out. I still have a few contacts with D-con registration. I'll inquire if it will be possible to obtain badges without the DMV line from hell. However, with the new system, I might have no options. From what I heard, the new system will be much quicker than the old. But like all new things, there will prolly be a few hiccups in the process. IMHO, it might just be a 'tad' faster, but I'm being cautiously optimistic. Be prepared for long ass lines if you go during the early rush. I'm arriving Weds night. I'll get cracking on my infiltration mission and see what I can do to expedite the badge process for us. If successful, I doubt I'll be able to sit in registration for hours at a time to see everyone thru, but I promise I'll do my best to help some of you. I guess its a question of timing. If you catch me at the right time, I'll be able to help. I'm not being selective, its just that I can only do what I can at the right times. Keep in mind, running back and forth to the Sheraton is a pain in the a$$. I promise to do my best for my fellow marines. I'll post a SITREP if I get any intell on this situation. Wish me luck!

The problem is waiting in a huge line just to get to you initial line which I never do I'm a p and there is never much of a initial line so I just walk past everyone and jump in my p line. I've never waited more than ten minutes.

I recommended they had registration in the hotel lobbies so when you go to check in to the hotel you give your name at the DCon table and they get your badge ready while the hotel is checking you in.
I know it wouldn't be perfect....but it may be a lot better than one location for EVERYONE!

This is what I am told. You will have your registration card. It has a barcode on it. You will walk up to a kiosk and have it scanned. The kiosk will print your label for your con badge. In the past, most of the time wasted getting your badge was when the con volunteer had to search in a big binder to find your label and make you sign for it. After doing this with thousands of guests, the time wasted added up to HOURS! This contributes to more time you have to wait on line. The theory is, you dont wait for your label being searched for. The kiosk instantly prints it for you. Ok, but with all new systems, theyre are bound to be a few uhm, growing pains and speed bumps. So I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm sure how many kiosks available will have a lot to do with it. I'm gonna try to get more info.
I still intend to see if I can bypass the lines for most of us.
