http://www.aetv.com/steven-seagal-lawman/ Seriously? I just saw a commercial for this on A&E. So he's been a Deputy Sheriff for 20 years now? How come this is the first I've ever heard of it? I'll be watching for no other reason than to see his nutty ass on tv- there's nothing else on anyway. EDIT- My mistake. He's not a Deputy. He's a Chief. Kevin |

I think him being Chief of police is an honorary title, like what Elvis got back in the day. |

He was on a 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' type show once as part of a posse that set out to bag a fugitive. Well worth watching, maybe you can track it down. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the show. |

Oooookay... wow. I have a number of issues here (as you can well imagine) but I'm not really sure where to start. I'll spout a few, however: 1. "Chief" is not a title within a Sheriff's Department. A "Chief" is the Chief of Police, which is only for a Police Department. 2. He repeatedly refers to himself as a "Police Officer", which he isn't. According to his uniform, he's a Sheriff's Deputy, so the proper term would be "Deputy". A "Police Officer" is someone like myself, who works for a Police Department instead of a Sheriff's Department. The proper catch-all term for Officers and Deputies and the jobs they (we) perform is "Law Enforcement Officer". Calling a Deputy "Officer", or calling an Officer "Deputy" is like calling a Marine a "soldier; you just don't do it. 3. His shooting stance is atrocious. 4. Watching through the vids, you see "Chiefs", Captains, a Colonel, etc... all running around in patrol, chasing people. Sorry, at those ranks, you're at the Division level and so work a desk, Mon - Fri, 8 - 5 or so, because you command an entire Division, at least. (Patrol Division, etc). You never seem them out at night, engaging in foot pursuits and the like; they've been there, done that, and are waiting for retirement. Okay, I'm done. Some of the footage looked fun though. |

Makes me wonder if the 'Chiefs' decided to do the patrols just to get on TV. |

Maybe, Steve. I imagine the programme I referred to was probably the brain wave of some tv production company with dollar bills in its eyes. Not that there's anything wrong with that but I'm sure there are many more interesting people in that field to follow who aren't famous. |
