The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Picked mine up today with the game:

Image

PR used for size comparison. :wink:

The gold paint is roughly sprayed over the original paintwork (as seen with the US version of the Lancer), obviously so it doesn't contravene RIF laws, but could have been done with a bit more care. :roll:

Haven't got any C type batteries to see what it sounds like, so will update when I've been shopping tomorrow. 8)

It was £59.99 with the Limited Edition of the game, which was £44.99 from GAME.

The only features are chainsaw sound and vibration when the trigger is pulled.

Dunno, I haven't got any C sized batteries. :oops:

I thought there'd be a vid on YouTube of one, but the only vids I can find are people unwrapping theirs, so no batteries fitted in those either. :roll:

Probably your fav auction site now, for silly money.
Edit: Looks like Amazon.com still have some stock of just the Lancer (for $140), so be quick!

Cpl Potter wrote:

Three, according to the outside of the box, but that shows a slide out battery holder, whereas the one in my Lancer just seems to be a small removeable cover at one end.

Hollis DZC wrote:

It only comes as part of the GoW2 Hardcore Pack (includes the Lancer and the Limited Edition of the game, with a making of DVD, a making of book and a replica photo) over here.

You can also buy just the Limited Edition Game (no Lancer) or just the one DVD game version.

Very, very cool Steve... I want one. :)

Maybe I'm missing something though, but it appears that whoever is manufacturing these or modifying them for UK could be breaking the law...

==========================================

From the HO VCRA circular...

25. Subsection 4 gives the Secretary of State a power to make regulations specifying dimensions and colours that will be regarded as unrealistic. This is designed to provide business with a degree of certainty over what they can trade in. The aforementioned Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (Realistic Imitation Firearms) Regulations 2007 specify the following dimensions and colours:

- a height of 38mm and a length of 70mm. An imitation firearm with dimensions less than this is to be regarded as unrealistic;

- transparent;

- bright red;

- bright orange;

- bright blue

- bright yellow;

- bright green;

- bright pink; and

- bright purple;

==========================================

And from the text of the VCRA itself...

(2) A person is guilty of an offence if—

(a) he manufactures an imitation firearm which does not conform to the specifications required of it by regulations under this section;

(b) he modifies an imitation firearm so that it ceases to conform to the specifications so required of it;

(c) he modifies a firearm to create an imitation firearm that does not conform to the specifications so required of it; or

(d) he brings an imitation firearm which does not conform to the specifications so required of it into Great Britain or causes such an imitation firearm to be brought into Great Britain.

==========================================

Now, call me crazy, but that's none of the colours listed above. They've technically sold RIFs on to people without checking their elegibility to obtain them... :/

I'm guessing that they got a directive that gold paint was okay, as it's really roughly applied, as if it was a last minute thing.

The law, as always, is ill-defined until a case is brought that sets a precedence.

Bought some batteries for it and........it doesn't work. :roll:

I might try to get it swapped for one that does work, but have my doubts that the shop will have any 'spare' to replace it with.

Can it be disassembled? Or is it glued togeather? It could be something as simple as a cold solder joint or a pinched/broken wire.

I can only find two screw fittings and they're for the hinged magazine 'arm'. The rest looks glued together.

I dare not try to fix it myself, as I'd more than likely mess it up. :oops:
