The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Got it last night.

I had been thinking about canceling my pre-order for this after hearing a few things on collector boards, but then all of the sudden I got an email saying it was on it's way.

I don't know if I should open it up and check it out, or keep it sealed and try to re-sell it. But like I said, I've been hearing alot of negative stuff about this one, so there might not be much of a market for it.

What negative stuff ? i know it does not look like John Hurt but then how many of the Marines looked like the actors? no doubt in a little while someone will make a replacement head for it ..

Yeah, mostly small stuff like that, stuff that can be fixed.

But the big one I've heard is about the rubber space suit. Some of the other things that HT has come out with that's made from the same material is deteriorating, like the rubber mesh shroud on the Robocop ED 209, and the rubber skin on the Aliens warrior. And both of these have been around for less than a year!

If this happens to my Kane, I'm going to be pretty upset. They should use something less susceptable to the elements...like vinyl.
$150 is too much to spend on something that's going to possibly rot away in less than a year.

Wow! Thanks for the heads-up DSB.

I was considering getting the Kane and Dallas figures but I think I'm going to sit this one out. I hope HT haven't dropped the ball on this one like they did with the Aliens figures (i.e. not very accurate and incredibly overpriced).

I hate to be an alarmist Harry, but it has been proven that some of HT's rubber products just don't stand up very well.

However, I will say that besides the head sculpt, the whole thing is very accurate. There are a few inaccuracies, but they are small and don't effect the overall product.

Overpriced, maybe a tad. But it has such intricate details, and given the LED's all over it, the price is probably to be expected.

Another problem I found with mine upon opening it this past weekend, the lights on the back pack don't work. Well, actually, ONE of the four worked, but then I tried checking the batteries (the back pack was a pain to manuvere) and when I put it all back together, the one single working light stopped functioning.
And from what I've heard, you'd be lucky to get a reply from HT reguarding any problems with their products.
I'd contact the place I purchased mine from, but since I didn't received the wrong product, I'd probably have to ship it back on my dime. And I'm not going to lose money on this. I'll keep it and see what I can work out.

Here is my post about the Dallas figure, just in case anyone missed it.
http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?t=5085
I assume it is pretty much the same.
I only wanted one, so the more accurate Dallas head was why I chose what I did.
I'm not sure how possable these figures are, however how possable does a guy in a space suit really have to be ?
I had no issues with the helmet lights, and yeah only one light on the back pack.
After a gentle tap I had all four lights on the pack working.
I don't know anything about how well the rubber will age.
He will end up in a display cabinet away from the sun, thats as good as I can do.
Hopefully he lasts.
