The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Sorry I haven't been on in about 6 months but you know how it goes.. Good to see some of you still hanging around. Anytime I think of something Aliens I come here. :)

Don't ask me how I saw this but while looking for a new camera. this one kept bugging me.. Something about it looked familiar. Then it hit me.. it looks like a motion tracker (aliens is in my head man, I see it everywhere).

But when I compared it to a real tracker... I started to see all kinds of things that are the same...

Humor me, but you have to move the handle from the top and put it on the bottom, and you have to move the screen to be on the handle.. but this does look like they modeled it on the motion tracker right? When you mount the outboard harddrive unit it even has the same little black cord running down the side.

The lens of the camera comes off, so imagine it without it...

I wanted this camera anyway but now... I MUST have it... Plus I am going to buy a Stedicam harness and arm just like the movie (if I can find the money for it all, trying REAL hard) (they sell glidecam stedicams set ups for about 2500 bucks these days).

In case you are wondering, this is a Sony PMW-EX3 camera.

Its not that its not cool or anything, its a good observation, I think its just that you could have gone and bought a camera and a real tracker for that price...

HA, sorry to bring this back up but I was looking at accessories for my camera and came across this.. it's made to be a portable studio switcher for this and other HD cameras.

To me I see the Sentry gun laptop! Maybe the guys who designed this camera and it's components were fans of Aliens.... :)

Maybe I should get it, it's only 18 grand..

they jack the price of these beyond reason. A crappy battery charger that would be 40 bucks at best buy is 130 bucks because it's for my camera which is considered a pro cam.

a new battery for this camera is like 230 bucks. Oh and I was joking about buying the laptop thing. :)

I've been watching and waiting for a good camera to come along. I bought it because I like to make short films and I film a lot of drag races out at Dumont sand dunes. I did a lot of research before buying and this is the best camera out right now. There is literally nothing better until you start getting near 50 grand or more. It was a bonus that it looked like a motion tracker..

It's all just for fun though, I don't expect I will ever make a dime from this..LOL

Thats what i like to hear, all my video equipment was brought for fun.If your thinking about a glide cam you might want to look into the indicam/flycam.Its basicly a a recast glidecam.Good for the money(though i dont like the rear mount vest ).
