Since Kevin did such as awesome job rooting out that elusive line from an old Twilight Zone episode for Joe, I figured I'd test my luck against our collective brains on a puzzling question I've had for nearly 5 years now.
Everyone knows them as Kang and Kodos from The Simpsons:
However, what no one but myself and a good friend of mine seem to know is that these two characters were lifted directly from some old B&W live-action sci-fi / horror film or series from decades ago. It was stumbled upon by accident late one night long before The Simpsons ever aired, but the connection didn't resurface until my friend brought it up to me back in 2003. I suspected it might have been from an episode of The Outer Limits, but my friend believes it was a full-length film. He also swears that their names in the film were also Kang and Kodos!
So the question is...
Which original live-action movie did Kang and Kodos originally appear?
Wikipedia turns up nothing enlightening but
this, which doesn't give anything away regarding the original source of these characters being from film or TV series, but it does go on to say:
"The first drawing of Kang and Kodos was drawn by writers Jay Kogen and Wallace Wolodarsky, who wrote the segment they appeared in in the episode. Their finished design was lifted off the cover of an issue of EC Comics."
Unfortunately, I know that's not a lot to go on -- but I have trust in you guys.
