The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Bros, I have secured a prop goal of mine. A Space Marine Boltgun. It's a huge mutha, but way cool.

Still deciding what Chapter colors to paint it, probably Black and Boltgun Metal.

And of course, I now need to make a costume to go with it.

A suit of Power Armor is out of the realm of possibility, so I'm thinking of a Scout Marine.

I've a set of the minatures, but I can't quite get all the detail from them. A Image search on google turned up more pics of min's.

Anyone got pics or drawings of Space Marine Scouts? Something showing most of the angles?

I can wing it, but I'd love to have some detail pics.

As for what Chapter, right now it's between Dark Angels or Space Wolves. I like the Nordic imagery of the Space Wolves, but I like the dark green and symbols of the Dark Angels too...

Yet another friggin' project!!!

Dark Angels, hands down.

You can't go with the weedy Space Wolves.

Dark angels for sure. I assume youve looked in the codex for pics? i dont know what those ones are like but there probably arent many. i would say go to the games workshop website and look under space marines or dark angels. there should be some concept art and stuff.

http://uk.games-workshop.com/spacemarines/tactica%2Dscouts/1/

there are a couple of paintings there but not much. like you said its mostly miniatures.

sounds like a good project though. ive wanted to do power armour for a while but getting the materials is a bit of a bugger. i did used to have a tutorial actually which i may be able to dig out for you.

There's a guy over on the RPF that has made a bolter and a helmet and offers them regulary.

He also plans to build a full power suit, and I believe he has the abilities and determination to actually do it.

I'd jump into the Eye of Terror if I could get my hands on a full suit and bolter.

Ahh, the rivalry between the followers of Lion El' Jonson and Russ continues! :D

I've codexes of Ultramarines, Space Wolves, Eldar and of course, Orks.

I'll check and see if there is any Scout artwork.

I did check GW's site, but it wasn't real helpful. With the Scout Marine mini's having been out for a few years now, they don't have any concept drawings up. At least none that I could find.

Yet. 8)

Thorssoli on the RPF is who I got the Bolter from. I could have gotten a "beaky" helmet, but it was stretching it to get the Bolter as it was.

Perhaps one day a suit of Power Armor, but it looks freakishly expensive. I'd have to have mobility. Can't do the "Tin Man" bit. My Clonetrooper armor has great mobility, I really enjoy that. With the huge shoulder pauldrons of the Space Marines, I worry about if I can even aim a Bolter.

Zuzus, I'd love to see that tutorial! That would be cool!

So far, I think I can cut the shoulder pauldrons out of a plastic bucket. I think it's got the right curve, and size won't be a problem. Pad it with 1/2" black or grey foam to bulk it out. Attach it w/ industrial velcro and a elastic strap, like my Clone armor.

The body armor, I was looking at my min's last night, I think I can build it very similar to Colonial Marine armor. I might have to show fastex buckles instead of the seamless side armor, but will see.

The ab and groin armor- I'm thinking a combination of attachment like USCM and Clone armor- whichever works best.

Make a pattern, cut it out of sheet styrene or abs, heat gun to curve it. Lower belly curve- make it like my "donut" for Endor Commando helmet. Make small "L" brackets, glue on the inside of the bottom edge of the torso armor. Glue a strip onto it- then bondo the seam away.

The Glove and boot armor- easy- Just "armor" plates with elastic attached. Slide 'em over...

Need to make a Melta Bomb and two Grenades.

Ammo pouches, drop down pistol, probably just use an existing black set up I have already. 4" x 6" black canvas pouches.

Headset?

Yep, that's the beauty I'm getting! :D :D I'm going with the Imperial Eagle though. That small skull on the back is cool, I'm going to have to ask Thor about that! Thanks for sharing the pics!

GOT IT TODAY!!!! Wow, this thing rocks!! It's freakin' cool!

It's not as heavy as I thought, I'm sooooo glad the interior is hollow! That would be one heavy mutha if it wasn't!!

I'm thinking of adding a collapsible stock to it. All my Space Marines w/ Bolters have a stock. It just feels kinda awkward without one.

It's a very cool piece! Obviously thrilled with it! 8)

Warhammer is about the only scifi-war thing that never really thrilled me. I can appreciate the designs and artistry, but it's just not my thing.

Mechwarrior on the other hand... ;)

'course, I'm not building a life size one of those either. :D

40K is a blast to play Rook. A very cool tactical wargame. The minatures have to have line of sight to shoot, is only one of the features. Painted mins, scenery, it's very fun. I play my games in a ruined city. Street to street, house to house, multi level gaming.

Strategy and Tactics- excellent game! 8)

But not the best game... lol, not by a long shot.... but the minis quality, designs and backround stories and histories of armies and chapters are some of the best by far. if you wanna play a real mans game play warmachine but thats a whole other topic... anyway. any progress on the scout costume?
