WTF?! Why does every movie nowadays have to be: 1) A remake 2) A "Reinvisioning" 3) An Adaptation of a comic or novel? Here ya go guys, a pretty nifty trailer from the TrainWrecks that brought you the Matrix Trilogy... http://movies.aol.com/movie/speed-racer-2008/28066/main |

i think a speed racer movie would be cool if they made it darker, i mean like the sort of tim burton batman style dark. this just looks like spy kids. |

Are the moviemakers feeding us this stuff because it is what the moviegoers are "into" these days... Or are the moviegoers into these kinds of movies because it's what the moviemakers have been feeding us? For the record I liked Batman Begins. I also liked Batman Forever- but wished Batman and Robin had never taken place (easily top ten worst films ever!). Restarting the Batman franchise with Begins was a brilliant move considering B&R killed the series for 8 years! I also found it to be a little more in tune with events as they occurred in the comics (for instance Bruce Wayne's parents being killed by Joe Chill rather than Jack Napier). I have not seen Transformers yet- but have only heard praise about it. However I do know what you mean about there being a feeling of "going back to the well one too many times" though. |

Both myself and the Pixie thought it was mediocre pap at best, and boring and messy drivel at worst. So there, now you haven't heard all praise. Zuzus - Making Speed Racer darker would be so wrong, and to be honest, I'm getting tired of all these prosperities from my childhood being re-imagined with darker visuals and plots. Visually, I'm really intrigued by the look of Speed Racer. Plot wise, it screams kids film. But that's ok, because that is what it should be. |

See my over thought post in the Why Hollywood Why thread. Besides, you can always show your disdain for this with your dollar vote. And I think this looks great. I've always loved Speed Racer, and it's always been over the top. Why stop now? |

But the original cartoon isn't dark. It's just as goofy as the trailer. |
