Post subject:  OMG! Thank you guys!

Gorram it! I just wanted to thank the Aliens Legacy folk for the laid back type parade we had for D*con this year and allowing EUBs such as myself to march.

See, one of my scifi fandoms is a certain lived-in show. don mah?

And I find this one battalion online and find myself scratching my head at why this distressed, dirty universe has a group wearing such clean uniforms with rules and regulations that boggle the mind.

You'd think such independants wouldn't want to express their independance as rigid, anal conformity

I'm sure they're a great group of fellows... but seeing as we here encourage armor graffiti and the like... I find myself asking why they do that?!

Ah well sorry for the rant. Had to let it out somewhere.

Next year we'll just throw some dirt on 'em in the name of accuracy. Shiny idea eh?

You know, they looke good, even with freshly issued from the quartermaster stuff, (I'd prefer battle weathered gear, but hey, that's just me!) 8) But, why did they have khaki coats instead of browncoats?

Me and my squad of ultimate EUBs will protect you!

Are these the guys you're referring to?

Yeah, that's the lot. I love the idea, been wanting to do it... but they want clean and uniform. Not the type you'd think right? How bizarre is that?

And Rex, their coats are khaki simply because that's how they appeared in flashbacks on the show. Go figure.

Annoying most of all is their demand that the Browncoat patch have the blue star only, black star will be refused! WTF?!

Heck even Star Wars groups allow some dirtiness with certain costumes that should be dirtied up! (Scout troopers, Endor commandoes, Ep3 clones etc).

Oh so THAT's who they were?

Urk. If that's their policy, give me Alliance any day. At least they make it clear they're... 'of a Loyal alignment'. :P

Yeah... great concept, love it. I dress as a generic Browncoat when I can... but the idea of pristine... urg!

Coincidence that the CO sells the vests and coats and patches? I think not...

Seeing them all there is the Hyatt lobby was great but......VERY strict.

I'd prefer dirty, loud and customised :)
Too uniform for me.
I discovered after a few minutes of talking to them that they were 501st.

Wow, the CO sells the gear too? Oh wow. How odd that my custom leather Browncoat, based on numerous pics of Mal's coat would not be accepted.

Flashbacks...ack! How about "current" Browncoats in the Verse instead? 8)

Being "strict" for a costuming group just seems retarded.

I like it here... where we can go ahead and do whatever the freaking hell we want to our armor... and we're still unmistakable in that we're USCM... and everyone encourages individuality.

I bite my thumb at strict groups.

dont flame me for asking  , but, who are the guys in the pic dressed as?

Author:  Tentacle Chris [ Thu Nov 15, 2007 3:13 pm ]
Post subject:

They're the Independent troops from 'Firefly'. Like the Rebels in Star Wars. Opposed the Alliance and their strict rule. And damned if they weren't always dirty and grungy on the show...'cause they're rebels fighting on a shoestring budget not persnickety costumers

Think Southern Confederation opposed to Norther Union. The Browncoats are definitely of the 'Johnny Reb' persuasion, especially in the equipment/uniform department.

Yeah... I found their site because I've been wanting to do a generic wartime browncoat costume for some time now... but for them to tell me that it's a minimum $45 for the vest $200 for their coat... plus I would have to buy 2 sets, one for pristine for parades to be officially a member (yeah D*con is the only parade I do guys) and one set for the version I want to do is just asinine.

Sorry they look so silly being dressed so Raggedy yet so Clean in appearance.
It`s not meant to be when you have a uniform like that, that screams Dirty me Up.

Maybe if they are there at the next DCon,have a carwash just in front & behind them, that`ll give the impression they`ve just been cleaned up ;)

Yeah, I found them because I came up with an idea since my 'Verse persona was an ex-Indepenant pilot who fought and managed to survive The Battle of Sturgis (too many people say they were at Serenity Valley, kind of like all the Rebel Legion pilots who were at Yavin IV or scout troopers who were at Endor)...

Has anyone actually told them that they don't look that good? Imagine a Terminator resistance group in pristeen uniforms marching... guh.

Right then I think to be a member of the UKCM you HAVE to HAVE this that & the other, only available from me,failure to buy these means your not Official.

What crap. I jest with the above of course. It`s Sad sad sad.

Next chapter of this group will be to have all the women sleep with the CO as no other is worthy of that role.

Must be nice to be the CO,have a group to boss about (talk about ego stroking),then make a fair mound of cash from the sheep who`ll follow,as they can only be in his gang if they buy HIS stuff. No monopoly there then I see.

Well, in order to join their forums... you have to first join up as a member of the group.

How bass ackwards is that? I thought costuming group forums were meant to help people get the costumes... not the other way around.

But if people wanted to write to the leader and let him know how bad pristine looks... go for it.

I'm still reeling from the $200 price tag on the coat. I went the Endor Commando route for mine. Long lab coat, and tan Rit dye to match, then add patch. Oh but my patch has a black star... horrors!

Missing the point much? They look really silly all clean which is a shame 'cos they aren't representing Firefly well at all.
How many rebel forces do you know have a clean parade uniform (which oddly is the same as battledress)?

Arrrgghhhhh I wish TECKNO VIKING was with the UKCM invasion force for DCon 2008.
TECKNO VIKING would happily make them ALL look battleweary & battleworn

Maybe the USCM,UACM & UKCM should sort something out to show them how to do it properly at the 08 Dcon?

Also Adonis, good to hear you weren`t a sheep mate,as sheep need to be slaughtered  unless your Welsh or a New Zealander but we won`t go there ;) HAHAHA

Well... If you look at RL... most Fleet Troopers are clean, as are the pilots, most Leias are clean as are Hans (for being a scruffy looking nerf herder). But again, that's going into an insane fandom a bit.

Yeah, I just have wanted the uniform for ages. Maybe do a fan film or something.

And Jason, technically I have some Welsh in me on my mom's side. But sheep don't turn me on that much. lol.
