The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Another glorious day in the Corps!

To my fellow brothers and sisters who've served this country (or, hell, any country for that matter), Happy Veteran's Day. Enjoy the day!

To my fellow U.S. Marines, Happy Birthday (belated by one day). I would've posted yesterday but I was otherwise occupied! Semper Fi!

To everyone here: Please take like 10 seconds and say "thanks" to a vet if you know one; it means the world and they'll know... concretely... that no one's forgotten.

This doesn't just go out to U.S. forces, this goes out to anyone who's answered the call and served their respective countries. You all have my utmost respect and in that way, are all my brothers and sisters in arms. Be safe!

They shall grow not old, as we who are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them

Today at exactly 11am a Lancaster bomber (one of the only two that are still airworthy) flew almost directly over my home. It has a very distinctive sound- there is nothing else like the roar of four Rolls-Royce engines.

I knew today was Rememberance Day- however this is a very overt reminder.

As a photographer for the Army, I have the privilege of attending many ceremonies where veterans assemble...
It never gets easier to see their time-worn faces as they are clearly thinking of their lost buddies.

Here are some selections of what I shot today...

@sharpuscm, Dom, i could be wrong but while there's no number inside the "losange" cloth insignia on their shoulder, i would said they belong to Ecole nationale des sous-officiers d’active (ENSOA)/NCO School

And a webbing belt. Was he supposed to be a Canadian/French paratrooper/SAS with those wings? I am confused by his mish-mash of gear.

Pleasure Tony...

Pete, with the head dress he's got on, I would have to say he's from a Highlander regiment... with airborne qualifications.

I went to the ceremony in St. Albert. Being ex-army I wore my suit & tie, not a uniform. Here is me with the sun in my eyes.

Here's a better picture of a poppy, my Airborne (white Maple Leaf) Wings and medals. From Left to right, Somalia, NATO medal, Peacekeeper, UN Cyprus 1991 and Canadian Decoration 1 (CD1) for 22+ years of service. I did almost 24 years regular and 4 years reserve.

Had a nice dinner with some good friends who are still serving. We did many toasts to those who never came home regardless of what flag they fought under. We shall never forget.

Coming in a bit late, but I contemplated wearing my medals on Monday, but didn't. It's not a tradition in the US, and even though I think it should be, I still didn't. I read an article last year that expressed the opinion that we should wear them, and that it should become tradition. I get enough unknowing looks and questions when I wear a poppy, though... What do other US vets do and think?
