I am meeting up with some of my ranger buddies who were there tomorrow night to talk about their experiences and how they remember the events portrayed in the book and movie. Should be interesting.

God bless 'em all.

On a side note, I wrote two scenarios based on the events of Gothic Serpent for my paintball team... Always love playing on the US team.

It is strange looking back now. I got out in 90 after peace broke out and the wall came down. I got "laid off" right before Desert storm, bosnia and somalia. It hurt to sit on the sidelines in inactive reserve, but my life turned out OK.

this is strange.... i was only watching the film last night..i think its one of the best films made, it showed it how it was..( i know the did alter a few facts for the movie..) i think i read some where that the film had the blessing of the familes of those who died?

shake the hands of those guys for me...there are heros...

Based on the first person interviews that I watched on the history channel, ... Ridley Scott had to 'water' it down... and he did.

Oh...my head hurts...hung....way...over...

Great time last night, overall, they felt like the movie was excellent. A little out of sequence. It also should have been called Black Hawks down, since 4 or 5 birds were actually shot down. It wasn't some lucky shot either, rpg's were coming from everywhere. Fortunately, the downblast of wind and sand from the rotors threw off the aim and path of the rockets. They also said that the open space in the movie was misleading, it was a lot more cramped in the streets. One of the SOAR 160 pilots didn't like the way the strafing runs were portrayed, they were fastidious about what they were shooting. A miracle that there were no friendly fire incidents. And the scene with the strobe was "Hollywood", a strobe marks your position not theirs.
And of course they all felt a little humbled by the fact that their little fire fight was celebrated in book and film when guys are doing the same thing everyday. They also wished they could have stayed to get the job done.
I did shake all their hands for you guys.

Thanks for the reply Joe!

The movie was well done (in my civilian eyes at least). Really made me feel for those guys.

And I almost can't watch the snipers' last stand part- makes me sad and boils my blood at once.

I had the honor of meeting Col.McKnight.

He was our CO at the three OPLionclaw airsoft events I've

been to. Really amazing person to listen to.

Not anything like the actor Siezmore.

Very emotional film.
