The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

FX haven't done for... 3 years. It's the same time the Hoggetowne Medival Faire that I perform at is. Alas, would have loved see drunken Hicks antics (I chatted with the FX owner at D*con) and met Bishop.

Haven't done Necro in 3 years either. I was there helping run Cthulhu Live. Are they going to have any Aliens guests this year?

I plan to kit up for Vulkon Orlando in November.

But we should move the discussion so it doesn't sully Dom's thread more. lol.

I agree. New thread created. :)

You do Hoggetowne? I was the Chess Match director for Bay Area Ren Faire in Tampa in '05 - '06... was the main villian there for a few years as well ('04 - '06).

I don't think there are any Aliens guests at Necro. I won't have a kit done by then anyways... :( I'd love to hit some of these cons now... I just don't have anything fully put together.

Hey! I work Hoggetowne every year, for like.. the last ten years so far I think.
I did make FXshow, as some friends of mine were running it.
I met Lance Hendriksen there, and he's the NICEST ever. Met Biehn too. Hmm.. did I mention how very very nice Lance is? He is.
Is there a listing for Conventions in Florida? I mean.. that any Aliens stuff might happen at?
*waves at fellow florida folks*

Really? We'll have to hang out at Hoggetowne then.

Profiler and myself are Gainesville Florida, we both do faire and Marine (and other costuming stuff) places.

I haven't found any listings, but we can create our own Marine stuff. I first did USCM for a Tampa con (no Aliens stars or other costumers for it), and recently in Orlando for a Vulkon (test run pre-Dragon*con).

Up to MerMear and TentacleChris (or others) if Marine stuff will happen at Assimilationcon.

But regardless of whether or not any Aliens related stuff, I will be doing Marines from now on at any con. Hoorah!

Me and Mermear will be at Assimilation in our gear (and doing a panel no less) And don't forget Treadwell in our Florida list. He's up in Jax but comes down for Mega and others if he can spare the time :D

Yay! Megacon is usually the biggest Florida con for Marines, but I guess last FX what with Hick and Bishop... might have had a bit.

I have a trip to San Francisco to do(early october). Then I can start getting gear together. I'm looking into the smart gun stuff, and finding some exciting things out regarding availability and feasability.
Hopefully I will get some spat gear too, it's inexpensive and good looking!
Still considering making some armor instead. Dunno yet.
FXShow is awesome, hoping to make it this year when it comes around again. Dunno yet on the rest, as I normally work on saturdays.
Waves. Those of use in the gainesville area should do a lunch gettogether sometime!
Lance Hendriksen TOTALLY rocked at FX.
Wolfy

Alas, I will have to miss Assimilationcon's inaugural year due to everything else going on.

But seeing as I am now Vulkon's Entertainment Coordinator...
Vulkon Orlando is November 2-4th and I can put tons of Marine stuff on the schedule, including a colony sweep and whatnot.

Lucky gal!

So maybe we should come up with a huge list of all the Florida area cons so we can organize us Margaritaville Marines better.

I know Tampa has a comic convention ($5 admission) every few months. There's Megacon, the big enchillada, and there's FX, the huge chimichanga, plus Various Vulkons and the like.

Anyone know where to find a list.

Hmmmm MegaCon on March 7th –9th. I COULD be interested in going to that one. Never been to Florida and it would be a nice break from the cold Alberta winter. Besides, I have enough areoplan points for a free flight to anywhere in North America. :)

You would have fun I think. It's Florida's Dragon*con. Only in a convention center, but it's our biggest one.

It's Florida's biggest but that's where any comparison stops. It's not Dragon by any stretch. Don't come expecting the Dcon experience. It's a big dealer's room with some stars signing autographs. Not located at a hotel is a huge detriment to the fun, party atmo.
