Hey again all, I got bored last night & started popping through walls in AvP2. After a bit I decided to attempt drawing some of the gear from the game. Here's what I've gotten done so far.
Image
Having to use screenshots to go from, but I think they look pretty good so far.

[edit]PR's done, also did three of each type of grenade listed in the Tech Manual (best guess on how most of them look, but oh well. ^_^) & 6 magazines. Next, the Minigun :)[/edit]

Hm.. Just had a thought.. Since i'm just doing the USCM gear, should I include the sniper rifle from the game, or do the scope rifle from the tech manual?

I'd go with the Scope Rifle. I'm unfamiliar with how the sniper rifle looks in the game.

Graphics look great man! :D

Now that`s great work there.

The M5 Rotary GL,Looks an easy-ish custom job too.
Using either a HK Solid Stock G3 or Mp5 would suffice for the main frame, pistiol grip, trigger & stock.
Plenty of Airsoft versions kicking around too on those.
Thank`s for that I`ve talked myself into this now LOL

I messed with the "mp5 mod GL" idea several years ago but never followed it up.

I look forward to seeing your renderings of the 3 barrel minigun.

Great work...! Some time ago, I made my own "grenade recognition" chart:

To the best of my recollection, the M60, M72A1, , M108 & M230 were covered in Derek Baenna's PR Manual... not the ACMTM

Page 15 of the ACMTM has a description of the different grenades. :) Only has a pic of the M40 & M108 though.

With your permission, I'd like to adapt the designs in your pic into mine. (they look much better than the hackjob I did. )

Ah yes... now I remember. The M108 in my guide is from the ACMTM, Baena's version is just a simple black cylinder.

I think the barrel bushings/spacers should be a little larger, but
maybe that's just forced perspective in the game.

Also, after looking at the pics again, I still think the magazine for
the GL is actually the same size grenades as the PR uses. Again,
we're forced into a forced perspective view in the game, making
the GL mags look larger up close. It would make sense to me to
make the grenades the same, allowing for cross platform
compatability between weapons.

The screen used grenades also didn't have as drastic of an angle on the "nose cone/plastic cap" of the grenades. I think (like many things) the tech manual took some liberties in the art department.

But that's just my opinion. :)

I see what you mean, but even on the ground the grenades look bigger than the M40's.. And if they WERE the same size, I don't think the spider mines would really work too well. ^^

Just looked. The AA12 is an automatic mag fed shotgun.

I saw a pic of that on 4chan a while back.. they were mounted upside down. looked neat.

Minigun's pretty much done unless anyone has any suggestions. I know the ammo doesn't look all that great, but.. ^^

here you go. :)
The part under the scope spins after it's fired, and there's a cover over the barrel that acts as a piston for some reason.

Stupid civvie question. I know the standard underslung grenade launcher is a 40mm grenade, but there is also a 30mm grenade and I think an 80mm grenade, so maybe the two weapons fire different size grenades. I realize from a logistics standpoint it doesn't make sense, but fiction doesn't have to worry about logistics.

Hehe, good point. ^_^

Halfway done with sidearms, the SOCOM from the game is done (gotta look close at it to see what all I did to it), and I figured it wouldn't be right without everyone's favorite 9mm there too..

Once I finish off the VP70, I'm gonna call this finished as 'Page One'.. As it is, it fits on a single sheet of paper at the printer option of "fit to page". My goal on completion is to have them both measure the same size on the outer border, print them out & tack 'em on the wall. If anyone else wants to do the same, feel free.

'Page Two' will have the smartgun, two shotguns (M37 & another one), incinerator, knife (KA-BAR, Night Raider, & Gerber MKII), and the sniper rifle (either the scope rifle, game rifle, or both if there's space).

ok, quick question.. I'm trying to decide which to use for the other shotgun (non-Ithaca), which would folks prefer to see on the list?

I of course, prefer #3.. :)

I like the barrel design of the last one, but I hate the slither stock. People slap them on everything these days, It's becomming a cliche'. :)

Great job!

In the game, the knife you have looks like an M9 Phrobis bayonet. Although I recall it has a sawtooth back on it unlike the real deal.

Image

Also, on the MK23 Socom-like pistol, doesn't it have a square LAM unit under the barrel, as opposed to a standard tac light like you have pictured? I know they never used it as either in game, but that's what I recall it looking like.
