The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm having to log in every time I open a new browser and click on the bookmark for the forum. :?

I've made sure all cookies are accepted, with the net security level low enough to not cause problems.

Other forums using phpBB are okay, but not this one. :?

Cor, and it was going so well....

Are you just bookmarking just http://forum.alienslegacy.com ? You haven't included a sessionID in the bookmark (such as ?sid=489a98e ...) by mistake?

If anyone else has any problems or queries, please post them here ...

Nope, just the forum URL. :?

I've even tried deleting the cache and the original cookie but still doing it.

This is on my work PC, so I'll have another go when I get home tonight, to see if it's a work thing, but other forums access okay from work. :?

If you want to clear your cookies again in 10 mins and try again, I'll remove all your session keys from the database.

Try again after 13:15 UK time.

I'll try tomorrow when I'm back at work.

On the home PC it keeps me logged in, so it may be due to my work PC being very old and a bit crap, with an older version of IE. :D

I'm having problems posting replies in both Threads as well as PM's.

I keep getting invalid session please try again (or some such like) when I hit the submit button, it takes several tries to get it to 'take'.

Gonna clean out my caches and whatnot to see if that helps...

I also tried punching, kicking, and shouting at my computer....that seemed to help some...

I have deleted all your old session keys in the database. Clear your cache/cookies and log in again and see if that helps.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Have you folks tired using Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/? This board works fine for me using this web browser from both linux and MS XP. I remain logged in for days.

LOL, I was gonna say that, but felt that I should remain impartial lol.

Statistics lovers will be interested to know that:
  • 72.5% of AL users use IE
  • 22.3% of AL users use Firefox
  • 5% use a Mac
  • 1% use Linux

Haha Nice one Pug50
I use Linux AND Firefox. I've even tired Opera http://www.opera.com/ a few times but always go back to Firefox.

You have been cleansed, my son. Clear cache and clear cookies and re-enter the fold, selecting the box to remain forever logged in.

What about the Opera stats? I think it's F'in brilliant! I don't like the default settings too much, but after 5 minutes tweaking it's perfect.

I've recently tried Firefox at work, but it just looks like IE to me, and I miss everything I have in Opera but don't have in that or IE. There are probably loads of plug-ins I could add to FF, but Opera has it all in-built (including an email client).

Slightly more on topic, is there a way to remove the completely pointless and annoying page that appears when you mark a forum read? You know, the one that tells you that you have just marked it read, then asks you to press a link to get back the the forum you have already read :? So, you then have to click the index link at the top.

I think it's a standard part of the forum software, but I just thought it was worth asking.

I use Firefox 2 on my PC at home; always logged in on all forums I use, including this one.

I use IE6 on PC at work; all other forums I use I remain logged in permanently, except for this one, which logs me out every time I close the browser window. :?

I didn't have that problem on the old AL forums though.

I have always found Opera a bit "fat", but I have to admit I haven't tried version 9. 7.2% of AL users like it though. Bizzarely, 1.8% of users use their SonyEricsson Mobile phone to look at AL lol.

There isn't much I can do: The new forum sets a standard cookie, and has been tested on IE6, IE7 and Firefox. The only suggestion would be to either add forum.alienslegacy.com to the "Trusted Sites" zone in IE, or even better install Firefox on your work PC.

Already have the forum in Trusted Sites and we're not allowed to install anything on the work PCs, but it's no great hardship to log in once a day, so I won't mention it again. :)

Fat? As I understand it, Firefox is substantially larger than Opera (in terms of disk space, download size, and memory footprint). FF is also supposed to have a memory leak problem, but it may have been fixed by now.

As well as being very feature packed and small, Opera is also well known for it's speed.

Or do you mean fat as in screen space used for buttons etc? Here are some pics of my Opera screen (one with the "bookmarks/mail/contacts/history/transfers/notes" sidebar open, and the other without): Pic 1 Pic 2

I do have quite a few tabs open at the moment. I don't know if FF does this, but they stay open when I close then re-open Opera. I couldn't live without that!

Ok- when I edit one of my posts, there is no "edited by SSgt Burton" etc at the bottom of the post... However I have read posts on the new board that do say when they have been edited.

So does this mean it doesn't say the "edited" comment when I view my own post, but others can see the "edited" part? :?

If your post is the most recent post in the topic, then you can edit it as much as you like without it being marked as "edited".

However, if someone else has replied to the topic since you posted your post, and you edit it, it will mark it as edited.

This is so that if someone responds to your original post, but then you change your post to say something different, it is obvious that you have made an edit, if you get my meaning. :)

Clear cookies, then check that AL isn't being blocked by a popup blocker or Security toolbar.
