The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

We just got hired to work on a new project for Disney called "Trenches", that's being helmed by Shane Felux (of Revelations, Pitching Lucas and the Gay Bullfighter from Jedi House fame). This is a HUGE project, and we need volunteers! Sadly, we can't pay for the shop work (unless you're a pro and willing to take on specific projects by yourself), but you will get credit and get to see your work all over the place.

The project is a Sci-Fi war pic, and we need to make a lot of custom costumes (for both armies), custom weapons (again, for both sides), and a lot of cool sci-fi props. We'll also be doing some basic gore make-up and making up a bunch of corpses for the battlefields.

We need sculptors, painters, seamsters, assemblers and the like. Donate some free time here in the shop and get into the film biz!

Also, the project starts shooting on April 19th, so we're on a time crunch here.

We will be hiring an on site assistant for the shoot dates. We're shooting on location in Virginia on April 19-22nd, April 26-29th, May 3-6th, and 2 additional dates in a studio to be named later. If you're in the NY area, you'll get to drive down and back with me each week, as well as share a hotel room. This will be a paid gig, pay dependant upon your skill level. We'll be in charge of FX Make-Up on set, dressing the actors, keeping continuity on the make-up and costumes, keeping track of the props and weapons, teaching the actors how to use the weapons and props, and inventing the ways the weapons and props are supposed to be used. You'll need to have those dates free, have basic make-up skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to deal with actors without killing them.

Also, anyone in the Virginia area, or who wants to come out to the set to help out (for no pay), can also let me know. We'll need all the help we can get!

If anyone is interested in helping out in any way, drop me an e-mail and let me know!

Thanks!

No, Spat wants free labor. I would hope Disney is paying him for his company's services! ;)

I'm not in the area or I'd certainly lend a hand with props and working with actors. I've done it plenty of times for free. :)

It sounds like a cool project.

Yes, I'm getting paid, but not enough to hire on full time help. I can only afford to pay people if they can fully take of an aspect of the project and follow it through to completion.

This is considered ultra low budget, so in the contract, I get to keep all the costumes, props and other stuff I make, and I get to keep the rights to them as well, so later I can sell copies, or use them in other projects.

This is going to be the first original, episodic production made for cell phone download. It's very ambitious, but since this is new territory, they're not throwing in huge amounts of money.

If it's a hit, there is talk of turning it into a feature film, but that's much further down the line.

The director describes the project as "Saving Private Ryan meets Aliens", so it's going to be a very interesting project.

And no, we're not making the alien creatures. That would have been way too much work.

Hope that clears up some of that.

Well firstly I really wish I was in the NY area to help out.
Secondly - congrats on the contract Spat, I can't wait to see the fruits of your labor (and those others who help).
Now I need to get a cell phone that plays video :)

I don't think I can be of any help but I just wanted to say 'congrats' :)

Damn you geography! Why does all the cool stuff always happen on the east and west costs? :)

Good luck on the production Spat, wish I was local to help out.

Well, first, a big thanks to Fal for donating so much gear to us.

And that also is a way for others to help out. Even if you're not local, you can still be a part of the action! If you have old gear; Military, Police, or just about anything else, we'll take it. We need belts, straps, clothes, bags, pouches, buckles, holsters, helmets, etc. We even need old boots to dress onto the pile of burnt corpses. Heck, even old broken toys and radios and hoses and stuff can be probably be of use!

So if you've got old gear, no matter how trashed, ripped or beaten up, we'll take it!

Let me know!
