The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

And unemployed. ;)

Apparently Tom's erratic behaviour (including his weird flip-out on Oprah) has gotten him fired from Paramount Studios.

Unsexy cruise

They claim he is no longer a sex symbol and has cost the studio millions of dollars. M.I.3 was a flop compared to the previous installments.

I think this is hilarious. Hopefully these multi million dollar superstars will realize that they cannot behave like imbeciles or jerks in public.

Another thing I hate is the whining I hear about being famous...

"I can't have a normal life."

"Photographers won't leave me alone."

"Blah, blah, blah. Boo hoo hoo."

Give me a break. You're rich beyond belief. Don't like being famous? Maybe we should all do you a favour and stop watching your films or buying your cd's.

You don't hear Donald Trump complaining. ;)

"I know I'm human. And if you were all these things, then you'd just attack me right now, so some of you are still human. This thing doesn't want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it. And then it's won."

I swear some of these actors/actresses do stupid stuff just to stay in the news.

Example...

Anne Nicole Smith - what the **** is she famous for?
I'm sorry but she is ugly, untalented and has no real purpose to be on TV at all.
Her son dies mysteriously and suddenly she is on the cover of every magazine with 'her true story' and all over the news. I'm sorry but there are more important things than some no talent bimbo and who her babies father is.

Actors/Actresses I admire are those who have families and real lives and do't ass about to get in the news but do their job, get paid and go home like everyone else.

Tom Cruise..............hope this helps the others d*mb*ss*s wake up and do the job we pay them to ;) I'm with you Kev

From the article:
Quote:
Quote: He changed his handler, you know, to his sister - not a good idea.

If anyone doesn't know what this means, it's a person that a star hires, usually a manager, that tells them what to say and what to do, and how that will effect thier image. Very much like a politician. Now there are lots of stars who don't have them, but there are lots that do.

I have a friend in Clearwater Florida who attends the org there, and according to him Cruise has twin sisters who attend and they are very nice folks, from a nice family. I don't think either of them are his new "handler" though.

The crazy behaivor, IMHO, was all staged for various PR reasons. Cruise was a jerk to people while promoting War of The Worlds, a film where he played a jerk. Imagine that :)

I think the paramount decision had more to it that what this article says, and was based more on the money factors than the wife factor! :(

That might be the bottom line...

But the fact is, it is we as moviegoers who ultimately contribute to that bottom line. If M.I.3 flopped- isn't it a reflection on Cruise's behaviour?

Isn't it the moviegoers basically saying they are fed up, and enough is enough?

And if the moviegoers are the studios' bread and butter- wouldn't it make sense to let Cruise go? Publicly?

And to be blunt- I don't think Tom is going to be starving in the streets anytime soon. ;)

Really does it matter who he works for? Even if he owns the company?

If people continue to not go to his films, won't he sink UA as well? ;)

But as I said- even if Cruise has to retire (or take a figurehead position) I'm sure he will still be well off for the rest of his days.

Meh- if he behaves himself, this will all be forgotten a year from now.

People will go to his films, it just depends on the film. MI3 didn't even break even (domestically) on it's opening weekend, because it was ridiculously expensive to make. $350 Million to make is just STUPID. No movie is ever gonna recoup that kind of budget in theatrical release, I don't care if Jesus Christ is the star of the film.

The movie made $120 million in the US, and something like $250 overseas. Now it's on DVD and I think it will do very well on DVD.

I don't think it's a matter of behaivor or forgivness, people see films with some reprehensible people in them. Mel Gibson, for instance, Passion of the Christ is still big on DVD, and his next flick will probably do well because of all his press. Victor Salva, the guy who made Jeepers Creepers is a convicted child molestor, people still go see his flicks.

WOW, movies are mega cheap overseas. Either that or only 25 people went to see it ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist.

but yes that kind of budget is crazy!!
Movies can only make so much without overcharging for admission.

Well I had no idea the movie cost that much to make- which is ludicrous. Only Cameron has gotten away with making an unbelievably expensive film and have it rake in three times the cost domestically. ;)

Either way- Cruise has gotten a bad rap.

You know, I didn't get what Tony meant (by 25 people seeing the film overseas) at first. :o
