Quote: Quote:After a tumultuous week of clashing over the essence of the cosmos . . . This has to be one of the funniest things CNN has ever posted! ![]() Quote: Quote:The new definition of what is -- and isn't -- a planet fills a centuries-old black hole for scientists Again, this is just silly. Do PEOPLE really feel that they can define what is, and what isn't a planet? It's a lifeless rock spinning around the sun, nobody on Pluto cares what we think. Because there's nobody on Pluto! Quote: Quote:"It could be argued that we are creating an umbrella called 'planet' under which the dwarf planets exist," In my lifetime it's always been a planet, I'm thinking it's grandfathered into being a planet. How can they take this prestigious title away from it? Wait, does it even know it's name is Pluto? Honestly? I don't think the PLANET is going to lose sleep over this one. Just one opinion, I'm no "specialist in neutron stars", but I do know this much. It'll ALWAYS be Pluto to me!!! Quote: Quote:The decision by the prestigious international group spells out the basic tests that celestial objects will have to meet before they can be considered for admission to the elite cosmic club. OK, thank Goodness they decided to start making fun of this story, because for a while, I thought I was all alone! Quote: Quote:Pluto is automatically disqualified because its oblong orbit overlaps with Neptune's. This so insensitive to Pluto. How can we be such Indian Givers? It's like telling someone they won MILLIONS of dollars, and making it sound like the biggest prize ever and then they have to find out it's ONLY THREE MILLION DOLLARS!! So in fact, well, after taxes, they aren't even a millionaire. Hmmmmmm. OK, so it's nothing like Treasure Hunters. But still, this is BS. I am officially starting the "Pluto is still a planet" club! Who's joining me?? ![]() |

lol And if Pluto is automatically disqualified because its orbit overlaps with Neptune's shouldn't Neptune be disqualified for overlapping with Pluto? The first meeting of the P.I.S.A.P. may now come to order! <span style="color:black;font-family:verdana;font-size:small;]"We got nukes, knives...sharp sticks!!!" |

IMHO, this is a well orchestrated rouge to get the masses interested in astronomy again. That is cool by me. ![]() I am currently taking collections to send out the 'official' disclaimer. Twenty-three percent of the proceeds will be donated to P.I.S.A.P.... Tom |
