It can be done. Depends on how rigid the plastic is. Once you flex the plastic, it'll most likely crack and then flake off... Dave Pvt. D.Wong A12/TQ1.0.12144E2 Outstanding. Now all we need is a deck of cards. |

Another concern is that the pistol is made up of many moving parts. The tolerances are pretty small, so if the chroming process adds too much thickness, you may end up with a piece that no longer functions. And if it does function, you still run the risk of the finish wearing away on points that receive the most contact and friction resulting in additional flaking off of the chrome. You may want to consider spraying it with silver/chome, buffing it to the finish you like, and sealing it with a clear coat. -Alex "The M41-A. If it's made of all metal, it's also possible that it can be buffed to a silvery finish. Exoframe has done that with some parts on his Ruger. -Alex "The M41-A. When you absolutely, positively have to kill every mofo in the room. Accept no substitutes." |

What I've found out, you can't chrome plastic. The only "chrome-like" process you can apply to plastic/resin is vac plating. The problem with this is that places that can do it are highly undermotivated to do one or two pieces. They will do it for a price, but it may take months before they get to it. They want to spend their time doing the high dollar jobs. Doing one or two items doesn't bring in the big bucks, so it usually gets put on the back burner. You could try painting it using AlClad paint. There are a number of metalic finishes available. Many people use this in place of vac plating or chroming, it has a finish just as good! The problem with this, it has to be applied with an airbrush. "How lucky are the few who know where they belong." ![]() |

How about spraying with Alclad chrome paint? I heard you can get the chrome effect with that. If you bought the gas blowback, why not just get the stainless finish? |
