The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Yep.

Some of us new this years ago when that nasty "ACU" came out. But no matter our negativity, it was countered with "science" and "real-world testing" that it actually was a practical camo.

So is there much truth in the rumour that the US Army have now rejected the idea of just adopting Multicam as is because us Brits have adopted a Brit Specific Variant of the Pattern as Multi Terrain Pattern (MTP)?

Actually, they are. The M1 (series) Abrams tank is surprisingly quiet. During the first gulf war, this prevented many of the Iraqi forces from retreating until the tanks were nearly on top of them. They were so quiet, that the Iraqis were under the impression that the tanks were farther away.

What that pic doesn't show is that it was taken immediately after the Duty Officer found the coffeepot empty.

This is what happens when you let some stiff who presses calculator buttons all day make big decisions that should realy be done by those who lead the men that are to wear the kit.

The new UK Army stuff stands out like a sore thumb in British woodland. Might be fine in Asscrackistan, but not in any wooded areas. But, lets face it, who fights in woodland these days?!

Agreed on the Bean Counters!

The new MTP is designed for the most obvious present/future threat namely Afghanistan whereas DPM was originally designed for the Cold War Threat of fighting in Northern European Woodlands hence it's eminent suitability in such conditions even today and why, to the best of my knowledge, it hasn't been discontinued yet.

I like woodland camo all I would have to do is lay down and look like a small hill and snipe everybody (This is NOT ME by the way but an unreasonable facsimile when I did paintballing). They used to call me the mobile sandbag.
