The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I heard mention elsewhere that they are availble on-line for shipping WITHIN the U.K.

Afraid I don't remember where this was said, or who it was.

Heh. Are Nerfs covered on that law thing you UK people have going on?

I am currently engaging in the unholy act of marrying a Nerf Longshot with a Nerf Firefly to create an uber heavy ("Infantry Support") weapon.

Well then go get em! The more Marines have them, the more "canon" they appear to be.

Fraz imported the ones we are using for the NSC shooting range from the US at great expense.

Typically the UK price is around £50 GBP, I was lucky as I was shipping some props over from the US and I had a friend throw one in with the package.

Not to put a dampener on your celebrations, but they (partially) are...

Although as long as you're over eighteen though, you'll be able to saell / import / manufacture them. However, spraying them in a more realistic colour scheme will be illegal as of 01-OCT-07 unless you have an exemption.

"As long as you're over 18"... sheesh. Spraypainting aside, the fact that anyone would consider a toy gun, made for children, that shoots foam darts at harmless, (disappointingly) low velocities to be a dangerous item... that's just sad. They're made of flimsy plastic, I bet you couldn't even use one as a club. Why don't they outlaw sports equipment while they're at it?

I don't think it is a case of lethality, but that once painted, it can potentially be mistaken for a real firearm by joe average.

Which is the entire basis behind the banning of realistic imitation weapons in the UK.

I mean it does look pretty badass once you paint it up.

Waitaminute- I think I misunderstood your post there Sean.

You mean "why do you have to be over 18 to import a toy" right?

Yeah that's a bit of a stretch for me as well.

I dunno... I got a lot of strange looks outside of the con just having it strapped over my shoulder at D*con. Wasn't staying onsite, so 3 block walk with massive rifle... Kept the homeless people away at least.

It's strange that they're not sold over here in significant numbers, the high price price is probably related to the shipping of small amounts of stock. Or plain 'supply & demand' greed?
Looks like there's just no plan to supply the UK, even eBay has a surprisingly small amount of Nerf stuff. Mostly those throw-bomb things and a few of the maxed-out revolvers. Which incidentally might make a good donor if you wanted a Gears Of War pistol replica.

Very nice!

I honestly stuck the pistol grip on mine twice while playing with it long before painting it... I would just set it down and smack it in the right direction with the palm of my hand. A cracking sound, but no breakage and it popped off.

which direction? i have one and possibly want to take it (the pistol grip on front) off, but i want to be careful, because i may want to be able to put it back on later...

Urg... without trying to sound like a joker (which I am)... the opposite direction that it snapped on.

So I think that if you are holding it as a pistol... the handle would go to the rear of the gun...

I think.
