Those US Army guys "loose" more uniform than any military I know, the stackers will never notice!

Every year at Nijmegen I see a bunch of cadets swapping their beret's or a pair of trousers or whatever with a US soldier and coming away with an entire set of uniform!

I'm sure he could write some off for you.

Though of course, we would never advocate the displacement of armed forces equipment that could end up being of more use to a man in a war zone... right? ¬.¬;;

Well, I can't comment on the SP with the US forces but we've certainly not got all the correct clothing.
I'm not likely to go to the sandbox in my current role but I've known far too many guys who've been stuck wearing regular assault boots instead of desert boots for example. It's not good for the feet.
Thus proving you don't need all the best kit to do the job properly - but it helps.

However from what I've seen things seem to be a bit different for the US since the powers that be appear to spend a bigger percentage of the budget on equipment than training.
I've never known guys give away so much uniform befor and still have more than a complete set!

But seriously, if you saw the ammount of uniform that gets written off by stores you'd have trouble believing it!

I've heard first hand from a US stacker that things for them are pretty similar except that for them, since the men at the top are so worried about enemy getting their hands on US uniforms rather than being written off and sent home to be reissued as part Worn Servicable it's all destroyed just in case.
If only the waste could be cut down and the saved monies spent on the more important aspects of war.

You can pretty much get those ACU's at surplus stores according to Troy, there are some variations though.

Oh yeah, you can definitely get ACUs in surplus - but that's a little different from 'stores liberation'

As for the uniforms used on the films - the uniforms used were a mix of issue rejected stock and Tru-Spec copies (had to look at a variety to confirm). The caps were all rejected stock as most of them were completely incorrect size in comparison to the labels! T-shirts worn were tru-spec, boots issue, and then all the tac-gear private purchase stuff.
