The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

And so today I picked up the vest and cape from the seamstress for my Grayson Robin impression! She did a wonderful job matching it to the meger amount of pictures I supplied her with! The vest is pure wool, silk lined, and the cape is silk as well!

Sonar Batarang. I really wanted to try and duplicate the folding batarang (birdarang?) from "Grayson"- I just don't have the skills yet. ;)

I am totally jazzed with my latest costume! Just a couple of things left to do- repaint the police belt so it doesn't look 20 years old ;) , and have a proper set of undies made (with black trunks).

Can't wait to meet up with Rex at D-Con! :D

Kevin nice costume I put together a very nice Begins costume last halloween. You should show it on the Brotherhood of the Bat website. I'm very jealous of your sonar rang you must have paid a pretty penny for it. Did it come straight from Henry? I'f not dont mention it on that board a few board members bought this at his cost and then sold them quick to turn a fast buck. Henry sells most all Bat items to board member at cost but someone is always taking advantage of such a nice guy. Cool costume!!!! Jason

Thanks Jason! I'm on The League of Heroes- I'll show it over on BOTB as well now that you mention it! :D

The Sonar Rang came from Henry through one of his ebay auctions. Yeah- it was not cheap as I had a few bidders against me.

I don't even want to know what "at cost" is. ;)

Free comic book day is May 5th- I've been feeling out a couple of comic shops to debut my Grayson costume at.

Playing the role is half the fun of wearing the costume for me, and I like to do background research- so I ended up getting both Burt Ward's and Adam West's biographies in a single ebay score. I decided to read Ward's first as I thought it would provide some insight to the character.

Well of a 300 page auto-biography the first 50 were ok...

The rest degenerates into a (much too indepth) play by play of all the women Ward had slept with during the course of the show, and the (semi-employed) years afterward.

Honestly, do I really need to hear about every single multiple orgasm he gave the dozens (maybe hundreds  ) of women he boinked? And the constant mention of the size of his package?

Sure there were a couple of noteworthy incidents: such as the one woman who after a night of passion, pulled a 14 inch kitchen knife on him and chased him around her apartment- later explaining that she felt like Anthony Perkins in "Psycho". And a second "woman" who during a session, confessed not only to having the town's sheriff for her dad, but to being only 15 years old.

Otherwise- chapter after chapter of this woman from California, and that woman from Paris, yada yada yada.

Really I wanted to know about the show, how he got into the part, and what crazy things happened on set. It was only briefly touched upon, and the rest was basically Ward boasting his sexual prowess.

Guess you have to boast about something when you go from being on a hit tv show to shaking hands at car lots in the span of a few years.

Hopefully West's insight will be more... insightful. ;)

Well Grayson Robin made his debut at the Silver Snail in Toronto last weekend for Free Comic Book Day. I was there for about three hours. They told me that they usually have people dress up- well...

I was the only "patron" dressed up; the rest were the staff members!

Needless to say I had a lot of customers asking questions (can you get the keys for this display case? Where do I find...)- to which I would sheepishly answer: "Umm... I don't actually work here." :o

However, not being an employee- I could go where ever I liked! I hung out outside, went inside as I pleased, walked around and didn't have to take any orders. ;) :)

Anyway- the day started with me having to stop in the drug store (in full costume) to buy some batteries for my camera. Everyone stopped in their tracks to stare at me, while at the same time trying to behave as if I was just another regular Joe. ;)

Going back out to my car- I had about a half a dozen people stop to take my picture with their cellphones.

OK fast-forward to the Snail. This was my first appearance as Grayson Robin. It was a blast! I was a bit quiet at first- however I quickly warmed up as people (especially little children) stopped to say hi and get a pic with me. I shook many tiny hands that day! :D

Of course there was the odd snicker, and the one jeer I got was actually kind of witty... "Hey! It's Batman's life partner!"

But the one question I got the most was...

"Where's Batman?"

To which I would reply...

"He's parking the Batmobile. He's having trouble finding a spot." ;)

Another couple of guys walking by happened to be doing a promotion for Aerius allergy medication. One guy asked me, "Do you suffer from allergies?" I quickly replied...

"No."

"I suffer from injustice!" ;)

Other costumes there included a fantastic Rocketeer, Hellboy, Venom (S3), Iron Fist (complete with chest tattoo), Lobo, Baroness, and a custom Green Lantern. :D

I only managed to get two pics (I hate taking pictures ;) ) but I did capture the day for posterity. :D

All in all, a fun day! :D

Hey Kev
Looking good !
Just for your info...
That would be Nelson Costa as Hellboy and Scott Maple of Kropserkel as the Rocketeer.
George Zotti the Snail manager was Green Lantern, and my frien Brian who I think you have met was Lobo.
:)
Scott
