Quote:Harry's post is very true. Convention organizers are not usually showbiz types, so there can be friction between showbiz types who are used to getting their ways, and used to being the center of attention in thier own world, and the show organizers who by the time the show is happening are frayed, tired, and over it.
Well although I do work in the industry I wouldn't really class myself as a showbiz prima donna - as long as I'm provided with my rare cheese platter and Cheddar Vodka than I'm happy.
Seriously though I would never expect to be pampered, just looked after really - respected if you will. My point above was that it doesn't take much, just a coffee, some water and a sandwich says a lot about how grateful the organiser is to have you there.
An event is made a lot worse when you have to watch the organiser's team wheel carts of fruit, water, sanwiches and coffee
right past you to the celebrities signing autographs. Re my story above I was doing the event for expenses, how hard would it have been to drop one of these carts off at the HHACA stand for me and my crew? In the end I bought sandwiches, water and coffee out of my own pocket for me and the guys, money I know I'll never get back.
See, I'm all bitter - over a sandwich and a coffee!
Harry.
