The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

This is a pic of Dom and I aT Toronto Trek in July. ;)

Back to topic- I had a look around today for a belt buckle similar to one in the pic of Logan Mantroon posted. Saw a couple that were close- but had something stupid on them like bullets or bullhorns. They are by far the most God-awful looking buckles I've ever seen and would never wear one on my own.

I ended up passing until I can find one that's nearly screen accurate. Still have to find some cowboy boots without shelling out $150+ dollars.

I'm not going to be terribly picky about the buckle- my wife said to check out flea markets for it.

As for the boots I've found a relatively cheap option- WalMart (funny you should mention that ManTroon) sells ankle boots that look like cowboy boots for under $40.

Maybe I should shave my head and sit in a wheelchair for halloween LOL i got the brit accent covered LOL

I have been finding so-so look-a-likes for the buckle, if worse comes to worse, I can buy one of the cheap ones then resort to getting busy with the enamel paint.

As for the cowboy boots, for some reason I bought a pair years back. They are black, os are going to need recolouring. So far this is the only product I have found for doing it, but I haven't really looksed yet:

I dyed my Jedi boots with a similar leather spray (actually the same brand I think). Needed two coats. They are high-top boots, but one can was enough.

I take it Logan's boots weren't black? I wasn't paying attention.

Well as far as I can tell they were brown leather, which would tie in with the rest of that costume. Although theres always a chance I could be wrong LOL

Got myself a belt buckle this afternoon. Found a nice oval one with an eagle on it. Close enough- I'm not entering any contests. ;)

Still working on the claws. I found a pattern to work with. So far I've made three out of foamcore board (one hand done ;) ). If I get ambitious I'll make a sturdier set out of wood.

Outstanding thread!! Myself, I think I'll be either the Bat, or possibly a...Colonial Marine! :D

Kev, you're going to make an awesome Wolverine!! The dog tag is outstanding!!

I've been eying those Wolverine jackets too, mainly the X-1 versions. Not sure though that I want to pay the price...

But, with Mediation starting tomorrow with my to-be ex, I just may continue to buy stuff to continue to forget...

Should I do so Kev, you'll be welcome to wear it.

I saw a very similar jacket at Ross- for about $40- very similar. Personally, get one like that, age and weather it, and no one will know... ;)

Man... I cannot believe that you guys have already recharged since Dragon*Con and are now going full throttle for Halloween! I must be getting old... er. ;)

Halloween is my absolute favoritest [sic] holiday, but I have not yet recovered completely from Dragon*Con.

Lots of cool stuff and ideas I'm seeing here though! :D

Kevin -- I am so looking forward to you pulling off Wolvie. The chicks will be swooning over you even more than usual. ;)

Rook -- I didn't know you were an aspiring Ghostbuster. Very interesting... as I hadn't a clue. Great start by the way! As for Dave however... well, I thought it was common knowledge that he regularly drove around in his own custom Ecto-VW with his hand-built proton packs stashed in back. Nice photo Dave!

Unfortunately, I haven't got the bug to build anything new or different right now -- so I will very likely fall back to the costume I put together last year and only wore twice...

I tend to like doing the scary/creepy costumes for Halloween -- especially for the trick-or-treaters at night, and the Sci-Fi/Uniform type costumes for the conventions. That may change in the future, but that's pretty much how it's been going these past several years.

Hey Ripper -- Nice start on the BSG flightdeck suit! I wouldn't mind putting together one of those! ;)

Although I've already bought the buckle- I've been looking around for a screen accurate one. The buckle is a Chief Sitting Bull buckle like this one:

Sorry for the terribly small pic- it was the only one in a Google search, and the link didn't work.

Ebay ones are only brass and not in colour- I know what Mantroon meant about breaking out the enamels. ;)

Oh yeah- got my claws done! Will post a test pic (minus the beard) tomorrow! :D

Rick- that Leatherface is just awesome man! Would scare the kaa-kaa out of me in a dark alley (or a well lit alley)!

When I was growing up in the 1980s there were a handful of films that really spoke to me.

Star Wars (not so much any longer...)
Aliens
Mad Max/Road Warrior
Back to the future
Ghostbusters.
Highlander

It's funny how one can be around the replica movie prop thing for so long, and suddenly a light bulb goes off that says, "Hey, if I can build a replica pulse rifle and armor, there HAS to be people making Ghostbusters Proton Packs..."

And so it began. :)

I'm kind of burned out right now with everything, but I still want to get my PP built before Halloween. I have the majority of the parts, but I still need to get a metal alice pack frame, like the one Kevin used on his PIG power pack. Same thing exactly.

Wolverine test pics are done!

Didn't have time to get the beard on (with the stuff I bought- you basically have to put it on in layers a strand at a time- so I'm saving the full effect for Halloween ;) ).
