The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So, the out-of-the-box gun, does the bolt action work?

Yep it sure does.
Thats how you actually chamber a round and fire it.

Stop me now !!
I'm planning my third longshot as we speak.
I think this time I'm going to use a couple of m16 clips and go for a more clean, used, but not abused look.
It will be either all black or maybe a very bright sci fi look.
Still not sure yet.

Well I`ve enjoyed the one`s you have done thus far mate,so looking forward to the next one :D

I`m not sure what to do myself where these Longshots are concerned.

Apparently Hasbro UK say`s they have no plans to have these shipped to the UK.
Though what with the New Laws (replica firearms imported into the UK) this country has had introduced.
Would I be able to get one from the US & have it imported (due to it`s bright colours & firing Foam ammo),without being considered a menace & having the old Bill turn up?

Stupid that you have to seriously consider breaking the law on something for kids :(

It's a tough one Jason. If the original toy is a bright colour, then yes you can legally import it as a toy and not a replica firearm.

However, as soon as you paint it or convert it to look like a non-toy firearm then technically you are breaking the law.

Of course, if you had painted it before Oct 1st (but you did, didn't you? ) then it would be legal, but there are still issues with what you do with it. Using it at events is still a grey area at the moment, but my personal thought is that if you are dressed up in a costume and the gun is obviously a part of that costume, I think you'll be fine.

But obviously, if you walk down the high street in normal clothes with the gun sticking out of a bag, expect to get the book thrown at you!

HAHAHA Thank`s Phil.

I can honestly say I don`t tend to walk down the street brandishing a firearm (replica or other). So all being well I`ll be fine there ;)

So if I got the Longshot as it was (it`s bright colours) I`ll be fine then. Well that`s something I guess then.
As for once painted up,well it would only be "out" when in costume anyway & of course that would depend if the drops where allowing firearms (replicas) in the establishments.
Always pay attention to what`s said here you know ;) :D

Well methinks I`ll have to get myself one or two of these beauties then.
Thank`s mate :D

Jason

This week at Fred Meyer here in Seattle, all Nerf products are "buy two, get one free". Their longshots are normally $32.99.
Does anybody else like that other N-Strike gun (Firefly), the short one with the forward grip and the large stock (and the glow in the dark darts that are charged by a light in the barrel?!!)

Hey Gomi. I've got a firefly. They're... ok. It doesn't light up much. I'm working on modding one...

Of course I'm always working on modding nerfs for Marine stuff it seems...

I was at Target today, they have a large stock of Longshots but they are still $29.99. Maybe there's a huge sale coming right after Halloween, I've already heard radio commercials saying that it's "the Holiday Season". pardon me while I vomit.
I'll have to check Fred Meyer again to see if they're still on sale. Three Longshots for $64 is still better than 3 for $75 if they do go on sale at Target.

On sale at Targer for $22.99 until tomorrow. They'll probably do this a couple times before Christmas.

THE LONGSHOT WAS IN STAR WARS A NEW HOPE!!! :D

Now I have to buy a couple more (the other for a Morita-ish build)!

Ahem...

Actually this is from an auction I came across. Not too impressed with the photoshop job. He had another with what looked like a soldier in arctic gear holding one.

Bump of an old thread.

So I picked up another Longshot on Monday from TRU; they were on sale with $11 dollars off the regular price.

But I'm a little torn as to what rifle to emulate with it this time around.

I've talked about turning one into a makeshift Morita (especially since I have a resin M60 flash hider for it)...

But having watched DooM about a dozen times this week- I'm thinking of making it more of a RRTS weapon (based on either Reaper's or Sarge's rifle). :D
