The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Here it is, all done. 5 months of work in this. I am doing a short making-of video as well, I'll upload that later.

So much work in this, there is just hours and hours poured into every scene. God I hope you guys like it at least a little... LOL

It is really long though, I tried to move it along as quick as I could but there is just so much to show. 34 minutes, 4 parts.

I didn't want to post until I had watched all of it first but I wanted to show my support anyway-

I've watched the first two parts and I freakin' love it!!!

And there is some ingenious "guerilla" filmaking there! Such as the low lighting to make up for having to build entire sets. Love the fact you went old school with the effects! The opening chest (don't want to give too much away) actually made me flinch!

Awesome work MA! Looking forward to watching the other half!

Kevin

LOL thanks guys. Hope you like it once you have seen it all. I think the video conversion on youtube is "slgihtly" better I think it looks a tiny bit cleaner... you can also watch it there...

Some of the detail is lost on both sites, you can barely see the film dust and scratches that I put in there on purpose. I just love the drive in feature presentation thing I did for the start. I am going to work on that more and really try and make that special. I think all my future films will start with that.

EDIT: hey I forgot to tell you guys. The computer screen where you see me type "Test: 001 - Sample 31" is actually the reply box from this board. I used it because it had a green background like the lights in the movie...LOL

Finally found the time to watch parts 3 and 4!

MA (can I call you Erik from now on? ) it was great man! Totally in the theme of the film!

I liked the little homages- "Who Goes There?" being the name of the original short story,

I also liked the creature/person at the end walking toward the camera, and the head being hidden by the light effect- just like the 1982 movie poster:

Image

Did you get the police to help you out by blocking the street?

I dunno about the UFO flying away though.

Oh and was that you as the "You got no chance!" guy in the lab?

Once again loved it!

Kevin

LOL burton, I was wondering if anyone caught the live action movie poster gag. :) I guess the best way to think of this is a tribute/sequel since we spent as much time doing tributes as we did on the end of the world.

Funny though, you saw the movie poster but didn't remember that the UFO from the first movie flies all crazy like that. Also there were a vague and not so vague references to Gremlins and Robocop during the radio shows that played while I drove back to the city. If you catch the Robocop reference you know WAY too much about Robo.

There was a snow storm back during the winter here in vegas, only a few inches but they went crazy blocking the streets off and so forth. All the police video was real. I shot it after work as quickly as I could because the next day the snow was almost gone. But it did have that cool fog which also made it into the movie.

So we had the stevie wonder song from part 1
The mountain opening shot from part one
the whole bennings running in the snow scene
Who goes there on the desk
They killed a thing with electricity like the 50s thing.
Blair monster which only proves were the sample came from...

Me playing a part with me since I couldn't get anyone to do that part... yes they were both me.

Gremlins and Robo reference but I ain't telling.

Oh man I totally forgot about that! 8)

I'm going to have to listen to those radio references again. I'm not too keen on Gremlins, but I sure know Robocop (at least the first film).

EDIT- okay the only thing I can think of for Robocop is the mention of the psychologist "McNamara". "Dr. McNamara" was one of the scientists present when ED209 has his first demostration in the OPC boardroom (and kills Kinney).

Damn burton, you do know too much about Robo...LOL  good job. You are probably the only one that will ever get that. I recorded all those to a CD and played them back in the car, it was a long interview too, just in case I needed it.

Test: 001 sample 31

Heh! 8)

What a stoke of good luck to have all the cops out like that! Thankfully they weren't out for something more serious. Really made the sequence authentic!

The breathing sound during the test sample part- that's from "2001: a Space Odyssey" isn't it? I actually used the same sound effect once for a play.

alright that is getting annoying.. you knew the breathing sound....LOL Too bad you can't name all the monster sounds that are not from the Thing. Both 80s monster movies, one is a remake of a classic monster movie. Oh and you don't know Gremlins enough to know who Rockin Ricky is.. :P

Here is the final resting place of the Blair Monster. Looks like crap when you use a flash and this camera takes blurry pics without a flash (as you can see) but you get the idea.

I am not done with that display base. It is a work in progress. I am going for a burned and broken wood look. I might include some lettering that says The Thing too. I am working on it...

EDIT: LOL Bishop, thanks for watching!!

Hey thanks for watching!... I see a few people on youtube say the same thing about the explosions. Is there a better way to blow up a building on the cheap that I don't know about? :D

Burton, yea the Blair Monster is HUGE, I thought a long time about whether to even build it or not because I knew it would be big.. but I mean I can't just throw it away... Just think before the next film is done it will have a fullsize Alien and Terminator to keep him company... :) :(
