The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Is anyone else picking up this giant?

Mine's supposed to be delivered today, can't wait to get my hands on it! 8)

I was puzzled as to its low cost, so will be interested to hear your comments/review. :)

Got it Friday!

It comes in several pieces, I assume to save on the overall production cost.

I have nothing but good things to say about it for the most part. Everything went together easily and without problems. The only gripe I have is that it's left foot didn't want to move at first. I tried moving it and literally pulled itself right out of the leg. I tried heating the joint, and then freezing it...I had to put some tremendouse pressure on it to get the joint to move.

Once I was able to do so, I put a tiny bit of 3 in 1 oil into the joint to help keep it movable.

It's big and really heavy, but the joints "click", so they can hold poses easily, you don't even need to use the tail as a third "leg". The jaw can't close all the way due to the inner jaws, but it doesn't detract from it. The inner jaws move easily in and out of the mouth.
There are holes in the bottoms of the feet, so if you have to have a stand, it will accept one, but you'd have to make that yourself.

At $40, I'd highly recommend this to anyone. Oh, and it isn't 18" as everything keeps stating, it's easily 21", bordering on 22".

To paraphrase Parker from Alien, "This thing is, HUGE!"

Got mine today. This figure is indeed quite large and nicely detailed. Unfortunately, It's not without issues.

The main problem with this thing is that despite being articulated, many of the joints are so tight, that you risk breaking them trying get them to move.

The ankle joints on mine are basically frozen. I tried to get one of the feet to rotate and it snapped right off. Needless to say, I'm not going to move the other foot.

Because the the joints are so tight, I am having major problems trying to get the darn thing to stand on its own.

Overall, for the money, this figure is quite nice. Just my $.02

Oh, all right, give me a day or two. There are pictures on other sites if you just want to see one and not necessarily mine.

Just got mine yesterday…adds some realism to my collection and looks to be the proper scale.

Got one of these off Play.com and it arrived today. :)

The only problem I have with it is getting the legs assembled.

I've tried several ways to do it, but all that's happened is that my hands are sore from trying to force the leg joint in. :?

Might try rubbing the leg pin with some wet/dry paper to see if that will shave off enough of the ridges.

See my pic here of the bug still in the box, with offending joints highlighted:

It certainly is!

Maybe it's a figment of my imagination... But I've come to believe that the Aliens have been described as being 8 feet tall. The Neca figure looks like it could be in scale with a 12" figure.

Personally I think it's a wee bit too tall.

Still looks amazing none the less! :D

Coincedentally, today I purchased NECA's smaller version of the Alien- in scale with the McFarlane Hicks figure. 8)

Steve,
Yea, I had the same problem. I have another Alien Warrior figure that came from another place...actually broke the joint connection and can't get them together without the use of bonding cement. The trick that I finally learned was to use a little soap on the stems and they seem to slide in a little easier. Just take an old bar of handsoap and rub it across the friction groves, wet your finger a little and moisten the soap...should slide right in...kinda act like plumber's dope.

You could also leave them in a hot car for an hour or so and try that.

Mine was in the car all day at the station...got an ALL CALL from the county for mutual aid...big, big, big mulch fire out in the county...spent 14 hours out on that one...anyway, finally got home after leaving it in the car all day...I still had problems getting the the stems to insert all the way, they just didn't want to go in. Then I remembered the old plumber's trick when screwing shower ficture together...tried it and it worked. You still have to push the stem in using a good amount of pressure...but it did slide in easier.

Tried all these;

soap
washing up liquid
WD 40
Sanding the 'pin' down a little bit
hold joint under hot tap until hot to the touch (just caused leg to leak water for an hour afterwards  )

In the end the only thing that worked was a lot of brute force and twisting of the joint as I pushed.

Have now noticed that the right leg is slightly bowed inwards, not just at the joints but both parts of the leg are curved, making some stances impossible.

Can't really argue for that price though. :)

Steve,
Yes, even with any type of lubricant it a "B" to get them to go in without using a lot of force. Like on my other one, it actually broke the insert stem off right at the joint, so when I finally get a free day off, I'll have to get out the bonding cement and then my problem will be to "pose" it as its bonding together...wont that be fun, directions say "24 hours to dry completely". The Queen I have is made out of some kind of metal...cast aluminum?, it was a display piece at a comic shop and I talked the manager into selling it to me. On the way home, had some jerk driving and talking on the cell phone that cut me off and ran me up onto the curb...PANIC STOP...and down on the floor she went...hard. Broke the arm, tail and some of the spikes off and I'm hoping JB Weld will do the job.

All the HT Hudson figures have "Louis" instead of "Louise".

Wonder who approved the artwork.

Very nice indeed. Did any of you try the Hair Dryer though, that should have done the trick :D

Now seeing this one next to the Marine,I`d say it`s over scaled, though still could have came from a bigger creature.
I`d say a AVP-R Hybrid would be more that height rather than the average bug.

Still an awesome piece indeed.
