The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

...i knocked up today.

Its for my A5 Story treatment, UK infantryman designs.

The idea is to create something that fits in with the Alien Universe but is Gulf War 21st century as opposed to Vietnam 80's Movie thinking.

Armour...The finished version will have a webbing rig that fits over the armour and has pouches that attach to the waist. The armour is plates with flexible stretch seams for flexibility. There is a formula one style neck protector attatched to the back armour to protect the neck, no need for flappy paddle helmets.

Image

Rifle... Longer than a pulse rifle, with a 200 rd 10mm drum mag and an over the top auto shotgun/nade launcher with box mags of 7x20mm nades.

Image

Smart-gun. The harness is a conventional harness that is blended with the standard body armour, cuts down on weight, cost and mass of a full smart gun rig of the USCM. Advanced sigting systems and a freefloating barrell in the sheath at the front cuts down the recoil the Colonial Marines rig takes up.

Just line up the smart gun tracking dot with the sight eyepiece and you cant miss. Who needs a tracking arm.

hm its a great drawing and design skill you have

my 2 cents would be, why not using a real firearm and base your weapon on it?
like the PR

for example take a sten or some other ww2 gun

and a bren for the smartgun

Nice sketching, though weapon wise & as they ARE in the films, why not just use the L85 or redesign some of the body work?

The armour though I like that.
After all look at our Armed forces,we are one of the few that haven`t taken the US appearance (at first glance).

Look forward to seeing more sketches on the A5 project, inc hardware :D

Thats the idea, and the facinating thing. Whos to say the USCM is the only military force out there. The British Sa80/L85 is only used by the British Military so a revamped version sounds cool.

As for the Smartgun i was thinking of using the cooling jacket of an old Maxim/Vickers machine gun for the front end a typically British touch with an industrial look.

for the story i was going to use the M41A in a 'police' format for the police where the pump action fires rubber/tear rounds as well as shotgun rounds like a police scatter gun and with a single/burst restriction being a civilian version.

Like the idea on the Police M41 Rusti.

Though don`t forget there is also the drum round Grenade launcher, that could also double for Shottie ammo.

I too go along with the idea of other Nations in space than just the USCM. The Tech manual says so anyway,so there`s a EU baclground.

Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with & hope you don`t mind input along the way :D

Oh as for an APC,how about something more like the Landie custom used on Judge Dredd. Deck that out with a weapons package & maybe a tad longer & it`d be perfect.

Dropship could be something of a Joint International Project.
After all look at the Harrier & F35 JSF.
Which means using the Cheyanne is doable for the British forces.

Good ideas there, its like the Abrahams tank, not many people know it uses British armour. The crossover idea is cool. As for the armour i'm thinking of a full MBT vehicle for a scene. The Dropship i was thinking along the lines of a 'chinook style' heavy dropship that can carry an MBT

Nice idea with the Chinook style Heavy lift Dropship. That could be a UK specialist Dropship ;) Using the Cheyenne for APC deliveries/Gunships (or work upon the Apache helo into a Gunship?).

After all the MoD from time to time & if the foreign tech is worth it,buys off the shelf. Though saying that the WAH-64 is rebuilt by Westland with British mods.

I quite like the Hokum/ KA52 Alligator.

http://www.airforce.ru/photogallery/zin ... a-52_3.jpg

I can imagine a widened and fattened version of this with a small bay for an APC or a couple of future LandRovers/humvees sizes fast vehicles. With big a10 type over the shoulder sramjet engines.

I was thinking of something more radicxal for the United Military rifle. How about a bullpup 50.cal with a mp7 underneath with an exteneded barrel all stripped down with a new chassis over the top.

The .50 cal can act as the auto shotgun and the mp7 as the underslung carbine type thing. All in a package not much longer than a HKG3
