The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Having never been, what are the steel weapons policies?
Namely, can I carry something like this?

Here is what site says.

Please abide by our weapons policy: All weapons must be non-working and peace bonded. No functioning projectile weapons includes water pistols, silly-string guns, and ping-pong pistols. Bladed weapons must be cased or sheathed at all times. No clowning around or showing off in the common areas. Any weapon used in an offensive manner will be confiscated and rule #7 enforced. We expect you to use good judgment; with your help, we can continue to allow peace-bonded weapons - thanks!

Wow! And most Zwiehanders (sp?) aren't sheathed. Nice toy though.

Nice blade mate. Used to own a flambage (sp) myself.

I`d be curious how you sheath a zwiehander too, none of mine ever had one, well maybe partial to carry on my back.

Sometimes they'll let you get away with not having a sheath on a large weapon like that if you've completely covered the edge in rubber. It won't look as good, but it may keep you out of jail.

My personal advice though, is to not risk it.

Don't listen to them. You can carry it, but ONLY if you swing it over your head continuously while yelling, "I'm William Wallace, Bitch! I'm William Wallace, Bitch!"

Sorry, that one is not mine, I have one similar, but I needed a quick picture.

I have a wooden practice one, would that be allowed? I'm trying to decide if I want to wear a Landsknecht costume.

I was thinking of wearing this, not sure how well historical stuff goes over though.

People do historical... not sure how many would "get it". Wooden sword should be fine, just mind the crowds.

Wooden shouldn't give you any trouble at all, even if it's painted to look like metal.

While on this subject - anyone knows how well a one-handed sabre would fly with US customs? I don't want to bring my infantry Briquet just so it gets confiscated...

I wouldn't imagine it would go over too well.

Any metal weapons are more than likely going to be stopped. That's not to say they'll be necessarily denied or confiscated, but it'll probably cause problems.

No..it wont cause any problems...all you have to do is let them inspect it and get it peace bonding...I carry my Gerber around in plain site every year...no problems. The cops are VERY cool and laid back..they know its "Dragon Con"...just dont do anything stupid to make them "notice" you...

I'm not worried about D-Con or Atlanta PD - I'm worried about customs at the airport. :P

Airport customs ideally shouldn't bother you at all about swords/knives/blades. It's mainly firearms and bomb-looking objects they get touchy about.

Oh, provided they're sheathed and checked.

Things might not go well if you try carrying them on.
