The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

not a sci-fi but I love this quote:

"I'm Hub McCann. I've fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents. I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks. I've seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before. I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, KILLED MANY MEN and loved only one woman with a passion a FLEA like you could never begin to understand. That's who I am. NOW, GO HOME, BOY!"

That is easily one of the best monologues in a sci-fi film!

You know I've never been a really big fan of "Blade Runner", so when I saw the above quote I had to go and google it. What caught my eye is the part about Tannhauser Gate. This is one of the battles that is tattooed on Todd's arm in the movie "Soldier." Soldier of course being a film I love. Both films were screen written by the same guy. He said "Soldier" was, in spirit, a film that server as a kind of side sequel to "Blade Runner." Funny how some films end up in the same universe.

Did you know there is a Spinner in Soldier?

Also in the trailer for Soldier is a space battle that is never actually seen in the film- it has been rumoured to be a brief depiction of "The Battle of Tannhauser Gate" (possibly meant as a flashback or as part of Todd's battle sequences).

Sandra: How do you know they'll be back?
Todd: Because they're soldiers, Sir. Like me.
Sandra: Why are they doing this?
Todd: They're obeying orders, Sir. It's their duty.
Sandra: Do you know how many there will be?
Todd: Seventeen more, Sir.
Sandra: Oh my God, you can't fight seventeen more on your own, you have to organize us. We're not cowards, we'll do as you tell us, we'll fight.
Todd: No.
Sandra: Why not?
Todd: Soldiers deserve soldiers, Sir.
Sandra: But one soldier, against seventeen. What are you going to do?
Todd: I'm going to kill them all, Sir
