The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

2004 Grand Am - love my car.

But yesterday when pulling off the highway I noticed the signal relay didn't stop its clicking when I turned off the signal.

Now the signal's themselves don't blink, but you can hear the relay clicking madly under the dash.

Any ideas?

Wire grounding or bad switch?
Easy fix?

I'm dumb as a bag of coal when it comes to car repairs
Car pictured is same as mine, but not mine

hmmm.
Some problem with the switch since it won't turn off, so the start would be to check and replace that if necessary.

Clicking much faster than usual? That indicates a loading problem - very common when a bulb fails as the flasher no longer sees the same load and flashes faster.

Since all have stopped working at once it's unlikely (although possible, I've seen stranger things) that all the lamps have blown so I'd start by checking the wiring.
Possibly a ground connection problem at the flasher output...

Oh no, the signals work....but when they are turned off and the relay is clicking away.....they don't come on until I switch them back on.

I've been told to check and replace the relay....seems pretty straight forward :?

Appreciate the assistance :)

Oh, ok.

So they work ok when the switch is on, but then when turned off the relay clicks away madly? Is that correct?

Relay sounds like a likely candidate. Hope you get it fixed man!

Only seems to go crazy when I stop signalling right.
Now it seems to have stopped right as I was returning home

I'm guessing the relay....but getting under the dash may be tricky.

Anyone got a crowbar?

Try jiggling the signal switch stalk around a bit, if you can replicate the problem then it's probably a loose connection.

If jiggling it doesn't do anything then problem is elsewhere.
It could still be the flasher unit, but it is odd that it has magically recovered.

Well it only recovered for a few seconds and by that time I'd switched off the engine.

I'm pretty sure its just the relay switch itself.....I just hate taking it to the garage to be diagnosed because I hate paying someone else for doing something so simple. But I don't trust myself doing it.
