The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

...except...stuff transforms ;)

Just got out of this movie and WOW!!!
Great effects, great acting, good humor also and really a thoroughly enjoyable 2 1/2 hours.

Now I'm not a fan of the cartoons or the other movies, infact I don't recall ever seeing them - but this I liked.

Independence Day style blockbuster. I highly recommend.

Also, I'm making use of our new poll feature :)

Transformers was probably a little before your time there Tony (the cartoon began in 1984 and ran four seasons).

I used to watch the show religiously. Back in the day we couldn't afford much (actually it wasn't until recently that my parents admitted they were both unemployed at one point around then) so I didn't have a slew of toys.

However I did have a Thundercracker and Sideswipe. I sold both of them years ago.

I was kind of trepidatious about the new movie especially the look of Optimus Prime and Megatron- however with all the commercials and trailers I've seen, it looks to be a spectacular effects show.

Glad to hear it didn't stink! :D

Looking forward to seeing this one. I'm glad for the positive review Tony. I'm with Kev on the old school Transformers. Watched the show and had a good bit of the toys.

But, if there is one thing that really pisses me off, it's the PC crap about changing Megatron from a gun to a plane in the new toys.

Well it ain't before my time. This is definately a movie that was better than the trailers implied it would be. Is there some changes? Yep, but overall it is a really good movie and maintains consistency with the feel of Transformers a lot better than I expected.

I was going to ask if it WAS a ID4 kinda film. As the trailers give that impression.

Looking forward to seeing this.

You don't think it could have something to do with the massive change in size/mass that occurred when he transformed in the original series? That annoyed me, even as a 6 yr old! ;)

Well I agree about Megatron going from a huge robot to a sniper P38 is kinda... silly.

However it would have been a bit more consistent if he were a tank in the new movie maybe?
