The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Well the day to remember the 263 fallen of the valiant 7th Cavalry inc Commander:- Brevet General,Lt Colonel George A. Custer.

To this day there still appears to be two camps on this man. Some say he was:-Reckless,Impulsive,Flamboyant,Overconfident etc etc.

Though there are those who say he was:-
A Great Leader,Led from the Front,Didn`t ask from his men something he wouldn`t do,Brave,Unflinching etc etc.

One thing was for sure, for fighting the Indian`s during the Indian wars, they NEEDED Custer.

Whichever you think or believe today of Custer, today saw the end to a Bright Star (what would Custer have been like with a Victory & defeated the Souix).

So to Brevet General Custer & The Seventh Cavalry, you Will Always be Remembered.
To the valiant Indian`s who lost there lives & their Lands to the Union, you too shall always be Remembered.

Some once said that history is written by the winners...

it has only now in the past few decades the people are writting a more open version of history at the time of his death , few people spoke out against Custer....

Being English i see the line of thought now aimed at lord nelson.. we was vain , reckless etc... both men were of there times and were needed by there country...

I think the only real differance is Nelson died and won his final battle , Custer died and lost his final battle. Had custer died and his men lived (if the rest of the army arrived in time..) Custer would have been hero worshiped like so many other great military heros...

The Indian plain wars.. was many things and in many ways put a stain on American history.. and the Big horn was the begining of the end of the plains wars, so when we remember it, remember all those who died on both sides....

The two great warriors of the indian plains war Custer and Crazy Horse....

Except that the land was only one of those men's birth rights.

Times change, history is past and the USA wouldn't exist today without those changes. I have alot of friends in the US, I like it out there and intend to emigrate myself but at the time... I think Custer was in the wrong.

There's enough of a shout these days about Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea... I'm a military guy, I've not been sent out to the sand box as I have a different role but I've lost friends out there myself.
The Indian Wars were little different to any wars since. One people invaded another, believed they were better than them and tried to convert them to a different way of life.

Today NATO fight against those type of people on behalf of "the oppressed" - once upon a time we were those people.

Something to think on...
