The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

The metal part or the wood part?

You planning on painting an all black springer M-14 to make it look like wood?

Because when I finally get my hands on an M-14 up here, if it isn't already wood coloured I plan on doing the same thing... for that exact same costume you pictured. 8)

Not really to much rocket science my friend. Think of what they would have used most likely regular spray paint. I used its on mine and still holds up and this is minus any coating.
Paint colors. Tan and Brown.

For the black (steel) parts I usually go with Krylon Ultra Flat Black. It should have "Fusion" technology ( ) which is supposed to stick to plastic very well.

The rest of the M-14 that Randy Shugart used was just wood- no camo pattern that I could make out (maybe it's just my eyes though- I haven't watched BHD in years). Painting plastic to look like wood is the hard part; unless you don't care how realistic the wood grain looks. Maybe go with a medium flat brown with a gentile blackwash.

compared to my Rifle(http://www.airsoftgi.com/images/Picture ... 2-side.jpg) i can tell wood grain isn't an issue

as per the black wash...i am used to working with acrylic black and water....easy, but not that big of a fan of the after affect, any tips on using black wash with enamel paint?

So what you trying to do B, painting it up like that picture above or black wash it?

Here a better picture, its definitely tan with brown.

Oops! My mistake! I thought it was only Gary Gordon's rifle that had a desert pattern on it.

Don't bother with the backwash Brian- this was when I thought the rifle was just plain black and wood.
