Hey guys, I have a problem with one of my airsoft rifles. I painted my Leapers/UTG AK springer, and after a little while the receiver cover, which I thought was stamped metal, kinda disintegrated on me. It became brittle by reacting to the paint, I guess. So my question is this: where could I get a replacement cover for my AK? Aside from that, it's a great replica (the fake wood looks FANTASTIC) and it pains me to leave it as is. Please help!

Might try calling/writing airsoft shops & seeing if they have any junk AK's laying around awaiting their demise. Sometimes a customer will break the mechanism or something, and return it. Of course, they can't rebox them & sell them as new so most of them get stripped & the unusable remains are crushed.

That's how I got most of my collection (& spare parts/magazines when needed).

Well I followed your advice, and emailed pretty much every Canadian retailer I could find. And it worked! I found a very nice stamped steel receiver cover for my AK, I'll let you know when I get it.

So I got the cover. It was a little too long, I had to shave off around 1/8"... Wasn't easy, with the part being steel and all. But it turned out beautifully, now it fits like a glove. I'm very glad, it was this or the trash for my AK.
