The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi Guys,

I am about to embark on my first hero PR! Over the last few months I have managed to track everything down needed to build a fully working airsoft PR. I was looking at the Maruzen 870 which gas powered trying to work out how I could have this baby still working seen as the gas tank that comes fitted into the shot guns stock is WAY to big to fit anywhere inside the PR. I also bought a small gas tank meant to fit inside the PR shroud but I just can't see where it might fit!! Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. The shroud I have is a black resin Matsuo shroud.

I look forward to your reply

Pete

Data's the boy to ask, as he devised a way to fit a gas tank in it. Friendlyskies may know too, as Data made one for him, IIRC.

Going to be really unhelpful here but the M870 will fit with a gas take with some dermilling. But my advice is before you hack up the m870 sell it save up for a tanaka m870 and use it instead. The maruzen m870 is wider than the real m870 and is a struggle to fit. where as the tanaka is spot on and because the gas is in the shells no worry about mounting a tank.

You're going to pay about $500 for the tanaka. The Tanaka doesn't need any additional milling
to get it to fit into a real steel Spas Cage. It will fit (snugly) in the available space.

On the Maruzen, you may need to dremmel/mill a slight channel
down the left side of the shotgun receiver so it will fit inside the Spas cage.

At least one person friction fit it in there without milling. Most of the other ones I've seen
have had the side "channel" added in the receiver.

$500 would get you a real deact 870 in a real spas cage...

But for those without that option... well Tanaka...

But with the Tanaka you could shoot people... and not go to jail. :)

it will take a lot of effort and custom gas tank will be need and depends which shroud you have as to whether it can a tank. as for the shot gun you'll need to sand grooves into the body to fit. there is a guy on arnies selling one at the moment for $490 with 20 madbull shell.

Yeah I'm beginning to panic a little :?

Actually I'm lucky enough to have access to a fully kitted out machine shop so the cutting and fitting won't be that much of an issue. I was just really hoping for a bit of advice on fitting the Maruzen 870 so I could have it working along with the working Thompson. I think I may have found a solution though so fingers crossed :D

That should make things easier i did mind with sand paper and a dremmile. if you got the tools should be easy. if you get hold of the pistol grip tank you could mount it on the strap.

PM DATA, as he's even done detailed drawings of what you're after;

I left the majority of my trigger guard intact and it works fine. I also retained the pump release
lever in case I wanted to cycle the thing to eject a shell without firing it. I had to notch
the Spas cage so it would all fit and function, but it works pretty well. :)

Everyone say that you have to mill the plastic M870 Maruzen body to fit into the S.P.A.S cage along the side. This is not true as I have fitted two Maruzen M870 in real S.P.A.S cage with out milling the sides. It is a good fit but it can be done. You have machine the trigger guard and back of the Maruzen body to fit inside the G&P kit and with the TM M1A1.

IMPORTANT NOTICE.

With the S.P.A.S cage you must deburr all the slots, front and rear so there are no burrs or metal bit sticking out. Get files and 240 grit paper (metal not wood) to get the cage nice and smooth and getting any M870 will be very easy.

I have also fitted and M31 MGC shotgun and also a real M870 into an S.P.A.S cage to getting working G/L's.

MGC with the blank firing caps are great and give a nice bang with the smoke!!!!!

I have drawing and measurements on these G/L type so before you cut to much off, give me a e-mail and I can e-mail drawing's and help in making a PR.

Cheer's Steve
