Hi guys,

Got a G&P pulse rifle kit at Xmas, and have been delightedly tinkering away for months! All's well, except for one thing... One of my metal shroud panels has either gone missing or was never in the kit in the first place :( Now, I'm perfectly prepared to admit I may have lost the blooming thing, but it's the last piece I need to complete the rifle, and the company I bought it from won't sell me the missing part.

I'm kinda heartbroken, to be honest!

Anyone know where I can get one? It's this bit with the hex key in it http://www.medwaypvb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/images/pulse/CIMG2632b.JPG, kindly borrowed from medwaypvb's site. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be *extremely* grateful!!!!

Hi pnag,

sorry that you are missing this piece and a can't provide any direct help. However, the part is just a cosmetic piece on the G&P rifle. So have you considered doing one yourself? You have the other half that you could use as a template.
I don't know what tools you have at hand, but I'll probably buy an L-shaped aluminium profile of the correct thickness and give it some slaps with a hammer to get the right angle. Don't hit it directly - use some piece of wood or plastic to protect the surface. Done with that you cut the piece to the correct shape. Not too much pain if you have some basic tools...

Cheers,
Stefan

So, you're missing a screw looking piece? Have you tried replacing with an actual screw or screw head?

Edit: Ah, my mistake...

I'd look around, there are plenty of skilled guys out there who could probably fabricate a piece for you.

Also, calling the shop and harassing them about it might actually yield results. Tell them you didn't receive what you ordered, and that they are acknowledging this in the conversation. Scare them, you might get what you want.

He's missing the triangular (kind of) bracket that the screw is going into.

Let me check if I still have mine.

I built more accurate ones. Not sure if I pitched it.

That'd be great! Thanks for the input guys, and if a piece is available for sale, I'm buying! :)

I couldn't find it.

I'll look again when I clean out my shop area.

Like bug stomper said, It's just a cosmetic peice. A bit of light gauge aluminium like a shelf bracket could be made easily enough. Just need a dremel, and if your serious about prop making you should have one of them already..:)

I can take a scan of mine, then you can print it out and you will have a 1:1 cutting pattern. G&P doesn't sell singular parts like this; otherwise, I'm actually a reseller with them.

Hi guys,

yeah, it's a cosmetic piece, but it's also noticably lacking whenever I pick it up :(

I'd try cutting out my own, but to ensure the correct thickness, that it matched cleanly with the one on the opposite side? I've made hundreds of kit props, but they've all been resin or included electronics! My metalwork skills are zero. :S

Have you thought about just using styrene? I mean once it's painted no one will tell it's plastic.

Dunno about sytrene - it gets thicker towards the curve, if memory serves?

I think most people thought it was the trapeziod brace binding the two shorud halves together which should be very easily cut even if you had no experience cutting aluminum. When you said curve then I knew you were talking about the lateral brace, and know what you mean when you said you feel you couldn't bend those, as on the G&P those are cast pieces instead of stamp out of flat aluminum. One idea would be to send the other side to someone who can do resin casting to do cast that shape exactly. Short of that you would just have to experiment with hammering aluminum sheet that is thick enough then cut it to that shape and replace both sides. Unfortunately, I don't think there is an easy solution now that the piece is lost. :|
