The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Going to a training event run by a local outfit this Wednesday evening. :)

The only combats I've got (at the moment) is my USM BDUs, so will probably stick out like a sore thumb, but at least I'll get used to feeling what it's like to get hit by BBs.

Any advice (I've already read the FAQ here and on the Platoon forums), is gratefully accepted. :)

I've never been paintballing or laser-tagging or anything, so I imagine it'll feel a little weird actually shooting at people to begin with. :)

Check your eye protection.
Take your hits.
Use short, controlled bursts.
Remember it's not a real rifle in terms of range or accuracy.
Wind your hicap, or dump your locaps too early rather than too late.
Check your eye protection.

:)

Tomorrow is a training event, so I don't expect to be involved in a war scenario.

I'll be renting all necessary equipment at first, then will see what I need/can afford to purchase myself for future events. :)

Ditto what's already been said.

I don't know what you lads use over there, but I suggest a full face paintball style mask.
I've seen kids lose teeth from not wearing the lower section of the mask.

Take your hits. Trust me, when I skirmished regularly I pretty much got shot out within the first 5 minutes of the game.

Try any AS gun you can get yoru hands on.

For "newbies" I personally suggest something in the AK47 family or the M4/M16 family. Decent capacity high cap mags and a wealth of accessories.

I however have had a long running love affair with the MP5. It's not the best for field skirmishing due to reasons like low magazine capacity, but it did teach me trigger control. :)

Oh, and last but not least... it's a game! Have fun!

Got back safe and sound. :)

Need to get my own face mask though, as the supplied one doesn't allow for us speccy-four-eyes people with glasses on, so my mask pushed so hard that my glasses were practically embedded in my nose by the end.

Managed to shoot a few people tonight, which I wasn't expecting to do on my first go. :D

Probably watching Predator so many times helped a bit.

"We move. Five metre spread. No sound." 8)

I did actually say at one point "This shit's something! Makes Cambodia look like Kansas."

Of course. :D

It was very overgrown woodland, so fitted nicely with the Predator feel. 8)

I managed to avoid getting scratched/stung by brambles and nettles, right up to the debrief at the end, when my hand brushed against nettles by the safe zone.

Airsoft nettles are like that - They lull you into a false sense of security, then get you right at the end of the day.

It reminded me of the SWAT team in Die Hard; running through the prickly bushes and going "Ouch!"

Which one's you? No, wait, you're the chick in the middle, right?

*Ducks thrown objects*

How'd you like using the MP5A4? That was the very first AEG I started out with.

Not bad. :)

It was a rental, so may not have been in tip-top shape, as I'm sure I should have hit a few more 'targets' that I actually did.

Yours cammies are nicely faded, Steve .. as they say "very salty". They will stick out in a wooded environment. Too bad you're not in deert country. USCM camo. would work pretty well in Irak or Stan. ;)
