Can you import an Marzen M870 airsoft from Japan to the US? I found one there I wanted to use a marshalling service to do the middle-man work. Anything to know before I start? |

Yep. WGC and most of the major Hong Kong retailers will take the time to make the item complaint with US import regulations, such as puttying over any trades, and painting the end of the barrel orange. Russ |

Yeah, it's not hard to import any kind of airsoft gun into the US as long as she's got the orange tip and the trades are "covered". Which for use in a pulse rifle GL means not a thing. ![]() A few other options for picking one up: This is one of the best sellers on ebay I've seen for shipping from HK. he's quick, nice to chat with, and knows his stuff. His ebay store is pretty well organized too. http://stores.ebay.com/eHobby-Asia-Airsoft-Supplier Check out Item# 280269791453 Also, the old standby for me (since I'm local) Airsoft Atlanta http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/ |

So, unfortunately, I had already bought one off of Yahoo Japan used a marshaling service. The marshaling service in Japan has it now, but likely doesn't know anything about how to get a Maruzen M870 through US customs. Good thing is that it was just a bit cheaper than what you guys pointed to - so I didn't get ripped off. If they just drop-ship it to me, is it likely to get seized if they didn't do anything to it? If so, what do I need to tell them to do (exactly) to make sure it doesn't get nabbed by customs: Couple other questions: 1. If it does get seized, is it just gone forever or can I get someone/myself to do the mods to make it legal here (US)? 2. If it's likely to get seized, what do I need to have them do exactly? I believe they need to have the paint the barrel Orange. and cover any 'trades' Anything else? 3. What does it mean to cover the trades? Black out the names? 4. Will any orange paint work ok for the painting? Thanks guys! |

I've had guns with trades and no orange tip get through customs just fine. But if you're in contact with the marshalling service, refer to my post on the rpf in connection with this question. I sincerely doubt it's going to get siezed, but if it does, you should have a period of time to contact customs, file a claim, and prove you're over 18 years old, and also, tell them you're a filmmaker and that it's a stage prop. Stage props do not need to have an orange tip. But, more than likely you'll be OK if the service can orange out the tip for you. |
