As we in the Uk have a month left before the new gun laws come in , i think its time i stocked up on a few airsoft ....so i'm thinking of buying 2 shotguns, one to add to my marine armour, like hicks... the other to fit inside the Grenade launcher... no doubt i will need a better Spas cage as the one that come with the G&P pulse rifle kit, as it has rather thick casting......

anyway ...has any body fitted an airsoft shotgun inside a spas cage? either the metal or a plastic../ fibreglass copy? is it hard to do ...or not worth it?

I'm about to undertake the same work; got a SPAS cage and pump grip and a Maruzen M870 BV on the way...

Shouldn't be too hard at all by the looks of it.

Simon Sidewinder did the work on mine to fit an airsoft M870 into the G&P Spas cage, so it can be done.

Then, of course, the bugger got hold of real-steel Spas cages so had to undo the initial job to fit the shottie into one of those!
LOL :)

OK the items needed.

I real S.P.A.S cage
G&P or Matsuo Shrouds.
Real or resin Matsuo S.P.A.S grip
TM M1A1 or the cheaper ones but still the same thing.
Maruzen M870 Gas pump action shell ejection model.

I have maded a fully working M41-A pulse airsoft that fires and all works with the counter. Plus the stock works and there no wires or pipe sticking out of th PR as it all inside the shrouds.

That £69 one on Wolf (and a few other sites I've seen) has some sort of magazine in front of the trigger guard. :?

I'm not certain if they still sell them or not, but there was a flush fit magazine that more closely resembled the loading port of an 870. They only held a few BBs, but if you went the route of using the Maruzen CA870, that would be a better option than the long mag hanging out.

You could always add the long mag for skirmishes anyway, and use the short mag for costuming. :)

Image

The mag is made by G&P, and costs about $9. Available from Wargame Club.

Do an eBay search for "ca870" and you can find them as well.

The ones marketed by UTG are _supposedly_ a decent product. If you're paying less than 15 UKP for it, I'd avoid it.

The original Maruzen ca870's are the best quality-wise for an off the shelf item. G&P makes replacement/upgrade parts for the ca870s, but if you're using it in a pulse rifle, it would be a waste of money to add a metal body kit, since that would be hidden by the Spas cage.

I have one of the UTG shotty's and its great, quite reliable and won't break the bank, but if money is not a problem, than go for something more expensive and higher quality.

Steven, do you have any pictures of how you arranged the gas M870/gas tank? I have one, 95% modded/cut down, but I'm at a loss how to keep it functional.

I've been lucky enough to have Steve do the same modifications to my Pulse Rifle as he has done to his own. I should be going up to see him again in a few weeks maybe to collect my PR and will then be taking photos of all the work that has been done. Hopefully this means I will then be able to finish the "Construction" page on the PR section of my website.

So, unless Steve has some photos he can show you now there will be some in a while anyway :)

Cheers

Darren

Looking forward to it mate! My hero rifle has been 3 years in the making, and is still not much more than a box of gun parts at this point.

2 problems..... the shot gun does not line up with the holes on the G&P sapas , i dont want to at this stage cut holes in the G/L... unless i have to (so i may not put a shotgun inside afterall will think about this first) .....second problem taking apart my M1A1 , can not get the outer barrel off, there is a small Hex bolt that needs to be removed but it looks like it has be rounded off, as the right size key will not grip the hole.... so may have to drill the bolt out to get the outer barrel off...

im giving up on the idea of putting shotgun in G/L due to the fact the are faily cheap shotguns and will not tak the abuse i will give it,
going to make a fake shotgun.... second tube in G/L so i can load grenades in.....need a cross section drawing of pump shougun so i can see how it all works...

i have a metal stock...and it fits different to the G&P stock.....and who said putting this together was easy...

Yep. Not easy.

I'd save the real shot gun idea for when you get a real SPAS cage.

I wish that I made my bolt work though. Maybe when she get

refurbed.

finished my G&P kit today..took me most of the weekend, for several reasons, still not got the shoruds to fit together tightly, will do a bit more tweaking over the next day or so.....

final toughts on it? better instructions...would have helped a lot, not all the holes lined up like they were supposed to...

it can be made better....but worth it as a kit if you can not get the real metal parts...
