it is a conversion kit, but it could be doable to convert, even if a certified gunsmith has to do it.

I am confused, whats the purpose on using the semi-auto parts?

Kinda less point if it's not auto ...

What would be really good would be if I could find a nato 308 conversion kit for my yugo M53 (and to convince my wife that I should keep the thing, and not sell it as the "investment" I touted it as part of talking her into it in the first place :D ).

I have almost everything required to convert to a blank-firing Smartgun but, feeding it 8mm Mauser is too hard (as we'd have to hand make each blank by cutting down a something with a longer case. Boo to that!).

One day I'll sort it out, just not anytime soon, sadly.

As far as having something to make a smartgun with, I would probably just get an A&K MG42 airsoft replica.
