Post subject:  Question about G&P kit counter

Hey all,

I've been putting together my G&P kit and have run into a problem. When I hook the battery up to the counter and test resetting it, only the first number lights up. The second number doesn't light up at all. There's nothing I can see obviously wrong.

The place I got it from said there would be no refunds or any kind of help with it so at the moment I'm stuck. From what I've heard there's little chance of getting any help from G&P as well.

I thought I would ask if anyone else has had this problem, or if not, if anyone has any suggestions on how to handle it.

Thanks in advance.

Possibly a faulty counter board or digit.
I have a couple of the counter boards in my bits box. You might have to splice the switch wires in place but otherwise the counter boards themselves are untouched.

Never heard of that before. They should help you out on
that.

Keep trying to get them to replace it.

Where did you buy it from? If AEX, I might be able to talk
to the owner.

LMK.

I was waiting until I heard back from the company before I posted again.

Matt, I actually was originally going to buy the kit from AEX until they sold out, so I bought mine from Plycon's Armory.

After corresponding with them, I was informed that they will not refund or replace the kit, or replace the broken LED display. They will contact their distributor and G&P but seem doubtful anything will come of it. Apparently they've had the same problem before with their LED lights. They said before I bought it that they would test what they could before they sent it out, but this apparenlty did not include turning on the LED display. I sent an email to G&P but don't expect a reponse there either.

I appreciate the offer for an LED Phil, but honestly I doubt my ability to fix it by myself.

I'm not sure where to go from here, but I thought I would ask if anyone here has any experience with circuitry/electronics and would like to help out a fellow marine. I'll be glad to pay and pay for shipping/parts etc, if anyone thinks they could fix it. I'm not too happy about spending almost $400 for something that was broken even before I took it out of the box.

If you'd be interested in trying to fix it, feel free to PM me. The worst case is my LED display remains broken.

Thanks
-Benton

EDIT (2/27): G&P emailed me back and are making a replacement counter to send to me. woohoo!

Its not a case of fixing it as theres nothing wrong with the counters I have. All that is required is attaching the wires that connect the magazine switch and the on/off switch as these have been removed from the spare ones I have.

Just thought you might want a perfectly working counter. No problem if you dont, they can sit in the bits box until either I find a use for them or someone else needs one.
