Post subject:  Help disassembling a pistol?

Hi - I'm making a very rare foray into the airsoft forum here, so sorry if this is OT.

I have an airsoft Taurus PT92 made by 3P (#210960). It has electric blowback, if that's the right term. It's not the best replica in the world but it's good enough for me. :)

I wish to 'get inside' it so that I can monkey with the insides - nothing to do with the firing mechanism, I plan to leave that alone; I just want to access the electrics.

I just wondered whether anyone's ever tried this before? If not, is there any advice anyone can offer?

I just hope it's not glued together. The grips came off easily and I can see about three small screws. I also notice that the muzzle clips off and the barrel is split down the centre. What to do about the slide... I don't know yet.

So other than 1) go slowly and 2) take notes, all suggestions welcome!

With some luck you might find an exploded parts diagram of it. You might want to check here:

Other than that there's always 1) go slowly and 2) take notes! ;)

Cheers,
Stefan

Reporting back in in case anyone's interested...

I did get the gun apart. Fortunately there was no glue, only screws. I then had to work out how to get the slide off (slowly and taking pictures as I went!). Eventually everything separated. There was a tense moment as a spring popped out and I had no idea where from. I carefully put all the pieces in a box and left it alone for a while!

Over the next few days I inspected the pieces and, one by one, figured out where they went and what their function was. Never having done this before I had no idea how airsoft works, but now I think I do. ;)

The mechanism for the electric blowback is complex (lots of gears and things) but also stunningly simple in concept!

Last night, to see if I had it right, I crammed all the pieces back in and clipped the gun halves together. Put in the batteries and to my relief, it still worked. 8)

Oh, one tiny thing - in it's half-assembled state I seem to have accidentally converted the thing to full auto! Oh dear. Don't worry, it will go back to normal when I restore it to its original state!
