I was able to purchase a TM M-14 off a friend. I plan to repaint it to match the weapon used by the character Randy Shugart in Black Hawk Down. Well that was the plan anyway. It was most likely never going to be shot, just displayed along with the movie costume. So....here is my dilema. My firend was a little overzealous and put 2 "test" areas of paint on it. Not a big deal...not a problem at all.

Here is the problem. He took off the front sling attachment. It will no longer reattach because the backing has become loose inside the weapon. I have no skill in opening airsofts and would rather someone who knows what they are doing try and repair it.

So...who do I call?

Did it get lost inside the barrel shroud hand guard on the front? If so, just pull back on the big ring at the back of the hand guard, and the top or bottom of the hand guard should just pop right out with a little tug. That's the area the battery would normally go in, so it's meant to be accessed easily.

If the backing has gotten lost in another area, well, the TM M4 does open just like a real M4, so you should be able to find it in there, though I can't imagine where you could have lost it in there.

Hope that helps.

Think there may be a bit of confusion. I think he's talking about the M14, not the M4.

I haven't seen a diagram for the TM M14 yet, but it is pretty new. Here's one for the G&G M14, it should be fairly similar. Most of the airsofts disassemble the same way between the high-dollar manufacturers.

As your name would indicate -- you are a radical dude in that there's no stopping you from completing an costume. Even at HK prices -- I'm still waiting for the price to fall before getting one (and waiting for more mod. parts for it). So, sorry -- don't know how to disassemble that puppy at this point. You don't want to send it out, man -- that costs too much. Here's what you do .. go to this forum & reg. up then post your question. Someone in the know would tell ya how to get it apart and fix the problem.
