The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all

I just picked up a Gas Maruzen M870 BV for quite cheap but obviously there was a reason for this.

The shell carrier at the bottom of the gun is missing and the gas valve on the end of the hose is broken.

Here is a pic of the affected area

Does anyone have a manual for this gun that they could check for me. i need to know the relevant part numbers for the carrier and any associated parts for attaching it and making it work.

Even with these I might struggle to get the parts. Only other opton is if anyone has a broken one that they want to sell for parts? Anyone?

Cheers

Darren

I looked at my manual and there's no parts numbers or anything in there (Unlike what you'd find in a Marui AEG manual).

Sorry.

Thanks for looking Russ. Looks like I might have hit a dead end with this. Guess my only hope is to pick up a spare parts one from somewhere.

You could potentially buy a real steel shell carrier and grind it down to fit the loading port. When I compared my real steel shell carrier to my Maruzen version, the Maruzen version was significantly smaller.

Hi Alex

Yeah, Russ suggested this too. I took the AS M870 to a local gun shop who said that they did not think it would be feasible after looking at a diagram of how the real shell carrier fits into a real M870 and the mechanisms that make it work. He said I would need all the associated fixings etc.

I have no idea personally of how it works but something must lift the shell carrier up so that the new shell goes up into the chamber. On the Maruzen I got there is no carrier and no other visible sign of the mechanics or spring, whatever that make it operate.

If anyone could take a look at their's and tell me how the mechanism works that might be helpful.

Cheers

Darren

I'll try and take a pic of one of my real steel trigger groups next to my Maruzen trigger group. Might be a couple days though...

oops, must look harder. Thanks Russ and TS826.

Now that i've seen that i can see in my gun that there is still some remnants of the part, the metal has been snapped on both sides where the red circle indicates

I may be able to get a new one fabricated I guess.

Alex, as you have the AS and the real version could you compare them as to how easy it would be to alter a real one to fit?

Thanks everyone

Darren

Hey TS826

Yeah, I looked at that a while back and again after i got the gun but it doesn't really help with the part i am talking about.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Alex, a pic would be great thanks. Would help give me a better idea of what I'm looking for.

Cheers

Darren

If you scroll partway down through those pictures in the guide, there's one that has a full side view, with the casing split in half, showing most of the internal parts laid out. And there's a good side view of the piece in question.

Well, I got the carrier in the post. The arms were too short and the "scoop" part too wide and the arms weren't at the right angles to fit in.

I lengthened the arms by cutting away some of the scoop section. I then had to cut some of the arms away to make them thinner near the scoop and then I had to bend the left arm into the correct angle.....

...at which point the arm broke off. Oh well.
