That is pretty harsh. My advice, if you live in Florida, start a film production company now, so you can claim that your arisoft guns are for use in motion picture productions.

There is an exception for
Quote:
Quote: A device for which a blaze orange solid plug or marking is permanently affixed to the muzzle end of the barrelfor a depth of at least 6 millimeters;
but I'm not certain if that means the standard orange tips which are already required by law will suffice. If so, this bill will have little to no effect on legitimate airsoft. Still, if you live in Florida I would urge you to contact your district senators.

A similar bill came up recently, I believe it was Illinois? The original text pushed to ban airsoft in all its forms, but it was revised to simply provide stronger punishment for anyone using replica firearms in crimes.

story behind this bill

some mentally disturbed kid that was suicidal had a AS Brettia M92 and braught it to school, shot a couple kids and had a stand off with cops and pointed the gun at cops who defended themself

when i was told the gun looked real i thought AS and when they showed the M92 ie was deffently a AS pistol that looked painted over to appear realistic

me and the guys at the range all talked about this incident and knew something was gonna happen cause this kid was screwed up in the head

Last I checked it was already illegal to point a replica weapon at a police officer, and was felonious. If I remember correctly the bills states that the police are within thier rights to conisder such as firearms and take the appropriate action to defend themselves.

I guess if they didn't make the same things illegal like 10 times over, just with different wordings, the law makers would have nothing much to do.

These days though, seems like you can't even point your FINGER at the police without being arrested.

I would be very suprised to see this bill pass in Florida, not being able to ship them into the state would suck though. Telling folks you make films never works.

If you're tyring to get this bill supressed, you will be up against the FOP (the fraternal order of police) who support it whole heartedly. Heaven forbid we should ask them not to shoot children, or to use discretion when they see a 10 year old with what looks like a real gun, right? Maybe the 10 year old has a toy painted black, hmmmm??

My brother is a sheriff in michigan, and he had a 12 year old kid draw down on him with an airsoft gun. The kid even shot him with it, and he fained falling over and dying for the kid. Imagine if something like that got out to CNN. a COP who can TELL the difference between a plastic "seamed" gun, and a real gun????????

So, you're saying he shot a couple of kids with an airsotf gun? And the teacher didn't take it from him after that? I'm confused, because nothing is less impressive than a cheapo spinger airsoft "popping" out a brightly colored BB.

I just don't see a stand off happening after that. Did he have real guns and an airsoft?

Airsofts are already illegal in NYC, where I live, yet I have over 40 of them. I get them shipped here all the time without ever having any problems because I use them for films. So it does work.

:P
