And for less than half the price of the TM M1A1 + G&P M41A kit that I bought forever ago...

Nice find! Looks like a copy of the G&P kit but, as Aaron says, look at the price!! ... And just after I've finished the build on my King Arms/G&P model too!!

Cheers.

John. :)

While the nice low price is probably frustrating to those who have already sunk money in the G&P kit with a Thompson in there, I wonder what quality is going to be like on this. Either the price of the older kits was just jacked up like crazy or the materials they used to fabricate these ones are of a lower quality. Hmmm...

Tokyo Marui is made in Japan. Japan makes good stuff.
G&P is made in China. Eh, at least the stuff is designed well.

With the flood of recent Made in China airsoft guns on the market, the price has come down... but the products are jukn. I have a Chinese GBB MP5K that worked once. Literally. Shot a mag, reloaded, and it was dead. Everything that's made in China is garbage that's a hair away from being tossed out. I too, have a concern about the quality of this apparent G&P copy. Maybe I'll just order one, and not two.

to be fair the MP5K is a clone of the Japanese made maurzen one which is also a piece of crap.

Honestly, I really want to get one of these, not for airsoft, but just as a prop
It says in the description that it's full metal body, frame, and gearbox...but seeing as it's from china...I have my reservations about it.

Post subject:  Re: Pulse Rifle Airsoft Preorders

pot-metal at best then. should make a great wall hanger after the gearbox cracks.

if this is the same thompson that was released a few years ago (cheap as hell), it is very very duriable, gearbox wise. a few are still banging aorund the local STL fields just fine. upgraded components inside but orgional gearboxes still.

now if only it had pulse rifle markings on the housing.....

What Pulse Rifle markings?

Post subject:  Re: Pulse Rifle Airsoft Preorders

weapon markings (maker, serial number, model, etc) , instead of the thompson ones. were there any on the screen used pulses?

LOL - Not on the screen used ones, no.
Matsuo beat me to the punch with his own interpretation though :)

That's really interesting...

At $350 it surely seems like quite the bargain... especially since that M41-A conversion kit looks dead on to the original G&P kit that usually sold for between $399 and $450 alone!

However, there is not a single airsoft Thompson M1A1 that can come close to matching the quality and performance of the Tokyo Marui -- well worth the $300 I originally paid all those years ago. I'm not sure what they're going to be using for their base M1A1, but even if it's only a $100 piece of junk, that's still only $250 for the G&P kit -- and you can still simply turn it into a nice wall-hanger.

Not that I need another pulse rifle, but... hmmm.

Oh yeah... and there goes Matt again, showing off his cool wares as usual! I do very much love that engraving, and wish I could get that done to one of my 'metal' receivers.

Agreed on the Marui, absolutely no replacement for it... you will spend as much money upgrading a Chinese knockoff to match a Marui which leads one to the conclusion that they should have just gone there in the first place.

As for the Evike kit, I'll reserve comment till when I see it. I cant imagine for the price you'd get much more than one of the knockoff guns... Probably a plastic body thompson with a metal gearbox.

I am however disapointed that they continue rehashing this old kit and have done nothing to improve it's inacuracies.

It is kind of weird to see them re-popping the 'dated' (or is that out-dated?) conversion kit, but as you well know... retooling costs $$$.

I think as far as an entry-level working airsoft pulse rifle, this would definitely be appealing to someone just starting out.

I, like many others out there, originally popped for the Tokyo Marui Thompson ($300) and the G&P M41-A Kit ($400) many many years ago. Ironically, I have since stripped every piece of G&P kit off of it with the lone exception of the pistol grip. Sadly, those G&P parts are now just kicking around in bins as near worthless pieces of plastic in my eyes. The last upgrade needing to be done to my Tokyo Marui are the aluminum shrouds off of my HCG. Soon I will have even more pieces of worthless leftovers to fill my bins. Not exactly a cheap route to go, but definitely one of the more accurate and quality ways to go.

However, if airsoft capabilities are unnecessary, then of course a Matsucorp M-41A or a Spulse Rifle would be the way to go depending on budget and level of accuracy desired.

And then of course there is the MiM kit which I still very much like -- namely the resin shrouds. Not exactly super high quality resin or castings, but there is just something about those castings that keeps hinting that they were molded off of a screen-used pulse rifle. Ah... but that's another story.

FWIW the MIM shrouds are modified/recast SD shrouds.

Post subject:  Re: Pulse Rifle Airsoft Preorders

Do you guys think the parts off the new Evike kit will fit on the G&P? I mean they look identical in the pictures, but I wonder if a kit like this could be useful to someone who has parts missing or broken off of their own G&P kit instead of tracking down a genuine G&P kit.

Then again, if parts is what they need, I suppose they could just go to the dozens of builders on here who have bins of junk Pulse Rifle parts! :P

This kit is made by ARES.

I was approached about buying some of my mag bottom/inserts from someone in contact with them.

I smelled rip off a mile away, but I offered to consult with them to improve the kit.

Never heard back.

It is a G+P knockoff with a questionable thompson under the hood, that is all.

Only minor improvement that I see is, the back metal bracket is OD now.

Strangely the bracket on my G&P kit is OD so it looks like they corrected this in later production runs too.

I ended up having to use a King Arms Thompson for my build as the TM one has been quite hard to come by in the UK recently. I also have the King Arms Galil SAR which received favourable reviews regarding the build quality of it's gearbox. I've had it a couple of years now & it's fired many thousands of bb's. Hopefully the gearbox in their Thompson will be equally well put together.

I'd be interested to know where they're sourcing their Thompson parts for this kit too. As I recall the M1A1 has only been marketed by four companies; TM followed by, CYMA & more recently King Arms & ... 'Snow Wolf'.

Cheers.

A little secret here... Matrix is nothing but Evikes in house branding... they basically repackage, rebuild, reassemble, or flat out buy out whole runs and re brand them.
Rest assured whatever thompson they use it's probably a low end one.

I resorted to the same, but upgraded with a tm bucking, h hop and mabull tightbore. Fires very well with a nice long range and sighting doen the top groove in the shroud is really nice.

I had a bit of a problem with semi locking up, ever without my bolt blowback modification installed. I fixed this by rear wiring and using a battery pouch which, with a bit of elastic, some grenades and some sewing is made to look like a small improvised bandoleer. This also meant I could put a return spring in the cocking handle for the GL too (and allows a future upgrade to a g/ l or multi shot shotgun)
