I agree this group order is probably the way to go.

Normall, HK street price is better than HK Internet pricing (which, usually, is still better than US street pricing), so if we could get a "better than street" deal that would be great.

Plus, shipping a bulk of items from HK is cheaper than shipping single items. Mainly because after you split the cost of shipment 6 (or more) ways, you're still saving money than the single unit shipping cost.

I know when I was a dealer it was that way. Ordering 6 Thompsons for example and having them shipped togeather was ALWAYS cheaper than ordering one at a time.

I'm sure it will be. That would be like selling cars without the spare tire. But I don't know if Koba parts will arrive at same time. Usually, AS dealers pull parts off of boxed sets and make it up later.

Sliuman, you're not the only one from this Board who lives in H.K. I believe lordmasterprince does too. I'm living and working in China not far from HK, and I plan to get the VP-70M from Koba but most likely keep it in HK. So, you sure can join the group order. We'll put a new thread out when we're ready to do, and those who are interested can just indicate their interest and join up then. The only difference being: UK/US orders will share respective and collective shipping costs from HK to their country. We'll work it out when ....

Still fairly new to this forum, but I check it a couple of times a week. You'll see me pop up of the RFP now and again. Anyway, I'd like to get in on a group order for the VP70 if the pricing is right. And I live in Hong Kong!! I saw the MGC VP70 about 15 years ago in a shop in HK and never bought it...I feel like an idiot...

In my opinion this is a LEGAL operation, since the item in question will be a mass produced, off the shelf item and although featured in the film Aliens, it is not being mass marketed as such.

When we finally know more about release dates and pricing, etc. we can turn this thread into a "group buy" kind of thread.

That's not a bad price everyone. Perhaps the work is over before it started. DEN Trinity -- if they have the Koba VP-70M ready ship may be the source. Perhaps everyone can make inquiries as to their requirements.

I would still shop around as much as possible. The idea of potentially selling as many VP-70s as we'd want should be enough to entice any store into making a good deal. DenTrinity, is a good store both online and in the real world, but they can also be very expensive. If it was me, I'd still go to every store in Mong Kok and the few in WanChai and see what they have to offer. An online price of US$194 should be quite a bit less when dealing with the store in person... my honest guess is US$40+ less than what we see online.

While the $194 price is a decent deal, keep in mind that if you order direct from DEN you'll be paying $35-$50 in shipping charges as well.

It would be nice if we could get a deal where the final price would be about $200-210 shipped, but who knows how low a shop will go.

Exactly. Aside from hiking up the actual item's cost, the shipping cost is also wayyyyy more than it really costs to ship it to you. So it would be cheaper to buy all the AS guns at street (not online) prices, and then ship them ourselves. Group discount or not.

Fact: Historically, airsoft shops don't make very much profit in the sales of stock guns, as they have relied more on airsoft upgrades for income. However, since the wide spread and growing popularity of airsoft overseas (i.e. regions other than Japan, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan), internet sales have become very lucrative. Even stock (unmodified) airsoft have become profitable because they know people are willing to pay higher prices for something that is not readily available in their own countries.

Which is why the online price of $194 is quite a bit more than what we'd be able to get walking into a store in Hong Kong. And the shipping charges they typically demand are outrageous.

You betcha. It irked me when the big companies all decided to arbitrarily raise their shipping prices across the board by about $20 per rifle. And they ALL agreed to it as a whole so no single company would underbid shipping charges.

But when the majority of the "big" online shops are actually located within walking or driving distance of each other, you have to expect stuff like that.
