The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

It's a Spring Tactics Pistol Grip Airsoft Shotgun R870 that I had picked for the launcher's mechanism.

Afraid I can't help there then. Good luck!

But like I said, try to pick up a real SPAS cage in the future, I'm on my 3rd PR now and each one has been modified/upgraded throughout the build process.

My stepdad is trying to come up ways for crafting stuff like guitars from cigar boxes, wooden planks, and actual guitar strings. I am gonna give him the scrap material so that he can fiddle with it.

Where would be a good site to look up on the SPAS cages?

One of our guys sells them right here in the PX.

You may not have PX access yet, though.... Check the Forum Rules for further info.

So far I have carved out the excess resin from the cast, but I need a rotary tool to smooth away the remains on the edges. I purchased a buttstock and vent from Matsuo, but I will have to pick up them up from my father's home since I was stupid to not change my shipping address. I had sawed off parts of my Thompson so that I can fit the grip and the launcher. I even have purchase an M1A1 airsoft sling which seems kinda close to the actual screen-used sling. I have to think of a way to get a replacement bolt handle because I was trying to chisel the resin one I sawed out, but it split in two and I lost one half of the handle. I am considering of getting a real one and try to attach it onto the charging mechanism. I am considering of getting the soundboard, ammo counter, and LED system from Hyperdyne Labs in the near future as soon as I get the USCM armor first. For the SPAS cage, I got no luck on finding it online so I purchased another airsoft SPAS to get a spare pump handle and do practicing on carving out the loading port and the ejection port of the grenade launcher. I'll get photos of everything as soon as I get my laptop's replacement adapter in a few days.

Like he said in the PX - Armourer is getting them. He reckons mid-January.

Yes I understand that. I should take shots of my uniform soon while I am taking a break from the work. I had dyed my urban camouflage uniform to brown. It's not faded... yet. I am figuring of fading out the uniform a bit with some kind of color remover, but only a fraction. Suggestions?

Okay here are some of the updates (since I can't yet upload pics):

I have already assembled the grenade launcher and built up the receiver, and I am trying to add a final clear coating on both of them. I then moved on to do a test spray on the PR shroud, and since I am using normal spray paint I had to rely on the use of a brush to flatten out anything bubbly. I just got the electronic counter and speaker from Hyperdyne Labs and ended up getting an airsoft motor, so I guess I have to install an electronic switch for the trigger assembly. I may need help on figuring what to select for that. I am still hoping on hollowing out the shroud with a rotary tool as soon as I get my hands on borrowing one in the future. For the SPAS cage, due to budget limitations, I proceeded to installing the airsoft version and it does work well with the rifle but I had to modify it so that the pump would slide completely. The pumping mechanism works great, but one has to actually manhandle the cocking of the little bugger. I am thinking of installing rail systems on the rifle to give it a more tactical look since this looks like a blend between the original rifle and the modified rifle from the third AVP game. Overall, I guess I am at the halfway point of the construction of the PR but still need to make adjustments here and there. I may be slow for now due to college, but I will give it my all when I got free time on my hands.

I have an AK47 motor for the PR electronic kit, and now I am trying to find an electronic trigger system to fit into the rifle. I even have found a scope that will fit onto one of the rifle rails I have saved up. I may have to put this on hold for a bit and move on to working on the uniform.

I tested the electronics and removed the parts from the receiver so that I can attempt to install the circuits into the receiver along with the speaker. I just need to figure out how to get the wires to work by themselves without having them touch either the battery or the airsoft motor touch the circuitry.

I finished the rifle last week. I didn't need the audio or the muzzle flash, so I stuck with the ammo counter. The final product can be seen in the Phoenix Comicon '11 topic.

I am planning on upgrading the rifle by straightening up the receiver portion since it came crooked, and update it with a rail system to attach a laser sight on the right side and a secondary rail system on the carrying handle. This would mean that I will have to pretty much fill the shooting sight on the carrying handle with some filler. I am still planning on keeping the mini-suppressor since I figured it makes it a good piece to the rifle. And here's a lesson I've learned about PR construction: DO NOT use hot glue.

I know this is an old thread, but I'd love to see pictures of the finished product. Especially of the grenade launcher bit.

UPDATE: I have successfully fixed up my rifle but I think with what I added to stick the damned thing together I made it a lot heavier. I used silicone gels and super glues, plus had to trim down the buttstock and glue it onto the receiver with a rigged support. The tricky part now is making sure that the grip stays on. PS - I still need to get my camera developed from last year's PCC.
