The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Still could do with trousers that have an inseam about 36 inches  , but that'll have to wait until I have more funds, probably next year at this rate.

Might suggest you consider just ordering up a pair of 3PAT trousers in rip-stop material. You can even specify they are for Airsoft. We re-inforce the pants we make for Airsofters to military-spec so they won't fail you in the field. ;)

Won't need them for airsoft, as I'll be grabbing a set of woodland camo locally. :)

I just need them longer so they go inside my boots, rather than hanging just above the tops, as they do now.

Bought DPM woodland camo trousers and jacket today, along with Viper goggles that fit nicely over my specs without embedding them in my nose. :D

Second go tonight. :)

My specs still press into my nose a bit with the goggles on tight and getting hit in the face with branches and stuff, but I'll have to put up with that. :)

Shot a few more people tonight, but also got shot a lot more. :D

Proabably because I got a bit more involved this time, rather than let the others do most of the shooting. 8)

No bloody wounds on me (but there were on others), just a few spots on my legs/arms/left ear that might turn into bruises tomorrow, so I'm lucky I guess. :)

Used a different AEG tonight (whose name I can't recall). It was bigger and heavier than the MP5 and a sort of desert beige colour. :)

I'm going to guess either the SCAR or possibly an FN2000. Was it a bullpup or typical "rifle" looking thing?

One thing you might consider is some sort of lower face protection. Rubber/neoprene at most, a bandanna at least. Could help with those headshots. ;)

If you go with a Neoprene "mask" you can perhaps cut away some parts on the sides around the lower jaw, but retaining the front face protection.

Getting a tooth shot out Isn't fun.

People seem to like them since they came out a couple years back.

Uses standard M16 mags as I recall, so spares are easy to get.

It is a modular "next gen" weapons system created by FN (Fabrique National).

Not sure who really uses it though (other than Airsofters). :)

The problem with full face masks is that all the ones I've seen are moulded/fitted around the eyes and nose, as I found out on my first go last week, when the ones provided for me pressed my glasses into my nose so hard I almost had two black eyes the next day. :?

Hey man! I've been playing airsoft for a few years now, I'm a walking encyclopedia if you ever need help on the subject!

It's nice to see new players! You should join up on http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk as there is a USCM gear thread located there! You need to be a member there to view the thread, sadly. :(

Skimming over the thread, I see you're looking for face protection. The first thing you should buy, because you can't play without it! I have a pair of ESS LandOps goggles, which work great. Cut out the foam at the top, and they seem to take a bit for me to get them to fog. For my lower face when I do decide to wear protection down there, I wear Recon-Wrap. Good stuff, and it makes for a decent bandana or hat as well. It's nice to wear a mouth guard as well, if you don't wanna get one of the nicknames such as "Toothy" or "Chip."

Play fun, and play safe! That's what it's all about.

Edit: Russ, the FN SCAR is going into service with the US Marines, although I'm not sure when, but I'd like to say soon.

Soon isn't the best word, because soon could mean 20 years when it comes to the military.

Most appropriate use of that emoticon? :D

One thing I was gonna ask in a separate thread, what's the fps of the Tokyo Marui airsoft Thompson M1A1?

Our Weds night skirmishing only allows up to 350 for the games, so don't want to look at getting my PR all powered up and then find out I can't use it.

Any Tokyo Marui gun will shoot between 260 and 305 fps (less than 100 meters per sec) out of the box.

Glad to see you are bringing the M41a to play with! Let me know how that goes, because I can't wait to finish paying mine off, and taking it out for a skirmish. :D

I think you might wanna tuck those pants into your boots and blouse them though, it looks better!

Box stock M1A1 shoots between 265-285. Been a while since I last chronoed one, but I think it was closer to 285.
When it came out it was one of the hardest hitting box stock guns.

Also, DON'T fall into the arms race trap of upgrading! Pretty much any mods you do to your
gun will decrease it's life and increase the future need for replacement parts.

I've seen guys upgrade gears for high speed and higher strength springs... and then blow
a gear in the first half hour of a game! If nothing else, upgrade for durability over "high performance."

Metal bushings to replace the stock plastic ones. Ball bearing spring guide. Perhaps high torque
gears after the stock ones blow. As far as springs (if they're still rating them this way) I wouldn't go beyond
a Systema M100 spring which will push your muzzle velocity to right around 300 fps.
Stay away from tight bore barrels too. One out of round BB will seriously put a dent in your
offensive capability. :)

Just a few suggestions based on my personal experiences.

The trousers barely reach into the top of my boots due to my abnormally long (and thin) legs.

If I tuck them in, after a few steps/crouches they've popped out again.

I have the same problem with the woodland camo trousers I skirmished in last night.

My PR might not be able to fire properly, due to the piss-poor job I did in putting the G&P kit together, so I'm not counting on it working just yet.

One thing to check is the hop up adjustment. You don't know how many times someone has said
"My gun won't shoot" and then you back off the Hop setting and suddenly... she shoots! :)

Not sure how/where I adjust that on the G&P, but I imagine the problem will be either the barrel not aligned properly with the Thompson or the BB counter sensor blocking the BBs from coming out the end of the barrel.

Not that I've tested the gun or even bought a battery for it yet. :D

Hehe, JLS. Avoid their guns like the plague. Although, you've got your own PR so you don't have a need to buy more. Trust me though, as a gun whore, it's not hard to want to buy more...

Russ Krook III hits the nail on the head though. There's no need to upgrade a Marui. Some guns are made pretty much FOR upgrading (See: Classic Army and G&P's guns, not to be confused with their kits). These weapons are bought mainly for their externals, but have some lower quality internals. Classic Army used to be a pretty reliable company, but this is what they are now.

Maruis, are the opposite. They fire just fine out of the box, and end up releasing their magical reliability as soon as you open that gearbox. As far as adjusting your hop goes, on the Thompson I believe you pull the bolt back, and the adjustment knob should be there in the ejection port. That's how it works on most airsoft guns.

The hop up on a Thompson is adjusted by turning the thing in what would be the eject port of the Thompson. It's a rotating deal with square notches that you can get your finger on.

You can make the adjustment either on the side of the gun, or through the bottom in the mag well. Of course, if it's mounted in a PR shell, the side may be the easiest choice. :)

I'd turn it right until it stops (all the way off) then try and adjust it left a little bit at a time.

Here's a scan from the Marui manual. Should be the same exact setup.

http://www.rookscastle.com/photos/m1a1m11.jpg

Hope that helps you out!

Steve, rather than tucking your trousers into your boots have you thought of a trouser blouser.?
